Keypads to Walk in runescape

I heard there was a future update where you can use keypads to walk on runescape O_O
Any sources or links ( I heard rumours ) and discuss what you think if they do implement this to the game
Would you support it or be against it and your reasons if they add this update to the game

 

I wouldn't personally like it as it would be hard to maneuver the character through the forest and you would always get stuck or bump into a tree. I prefer it the way it is.

In another thread, a guy made a comment along the lines of "next thing we know they'll make it so we can move our characters using the arrow keys", in reference to the game's increasing tendency to copy World of Warcraft.

People then misinterpreted that statement as 'Runescape will definitely have this feature', presenting a damning indictment of this generation's comprehension skills.

I thought that they were going to implement keyboard controls. If they did use the arrow keys for movement, then the mouse will most probably be used to change the camera angle, by clicking down on the scroll wheel and moving the mouse.

 

Thinking from a practical point of view, it wouldn't really work.
Most (if not all) games that use keyboard movement use the "WASD" keys - yet by using the arrow keys for movement, both hands are on the far right hand side of your keyboard and making for extremely awkward gameplay.

 

you are probably talking about someone in that other thread saying (sarcastically I might add) "what next, using keys to walk in runescape?" somethign along those lines? are these the "rumors" you've heard?

No, a while back Jagex confirmed in the rs forums that they were looking into using the keyboard to control character movement, since it is now possible for them to implement it.

I don't see how they'll have camera rotate and player movement simultaneously. They know we all think they're ridiculously like WoW anyway, to do this would only worsen that. I think they care too much about people subscribing for membership and the number of players to change the game that drastically. It'd be like removing the wild all over again? (not to be confused with "They're taking the wild away again." -.-)

 

They can always use this as a alternative for players who wish so to move there character this way but if they use this way only then the games fucked

Personally, I hope they don't move towards this. I like being able to click wherever you want to go, but I guess we will see what Jagex has stored up their arse for us.

 

They said it in a Q&A quite a while ago, a few years back maybe. So they probably shelved it, or abandoned it by now. But there's still a chance they might implement it, since they added the feature to control the camera with the mouse not so long ago.

 

JaGeX is adding more and more content to this game instead of improving the content that already exists , so I wouldn't be surprised if they did implement this into the game .

i hope they dont bring this into the game. walking and rotating the camera would be frustrating

 

I'm already displeased w/ the mouse3 moving the camera seeing as I use that as my PTT for Ventrilo/Teamspeak. If they add in WASD movement I'm probably going to have an aneurysm....
