Just thought I'd make a topic on what I think Video game's infuelnces on the world and their fast evolution

Remember Sitting back when you were young? blowing off the dust on a cartridge, and sticking it into you're Atari/NES/N64/Sega? Or going to an arcade and playing on a 7-foot machine? And now within a few decades we have these AIs and These massive games fit onto tiny discs, And these stunning graphics, just imagine what it will be like in a few more decades, having AIs everywhere, talking to the AIs though your mic and having them respond back and stuff, having games where you are in the game, and stuff like that, and opinions on you're image of the future of gaming?

Well if you're disappointed then you must have things that you want them to improve on?

Mindless children eat Call of Duty duty up like nothing. little do they realize it's the same game every time, just new maps and guns added.

    The future is not bright.

Well yeah, I understand that, Call Of Duty's games are pretty terrible because they just repeat stuff in all their games, but halo on the other hand is a pretty decent game, they add new feautres, and game modes that are pretty nice, Forge for example is amazing, I love how you can deisgn, edit, and create your own maps, and it is fun and easy to get used to and use. Battle field, bioshock, uncharted, and other games with good storylines and gameplay are amazing too, but I can't wait to see where the gaming industry goes, Don't judge the horrible games, praise the good ones.

I'm sick of these "twitch" fps games. In some ways, multiplayer gametypes have killed videogames. People just want to "pwn nubz" and don't have the patience for puzzles/dungeons etc

    :edit:

    jizzzzz love that game

That may be true, but if you don't enjoy the game then simply don't buy it.
COD has broken records for release date sales 3 years in a row for a reason, people enjoy the game.

Well I take tand on any of these games, I play all of them, so I guess im guilty of playing COD? I really enjoyed Call of Duty Finest Hour, COD 2, COD 3, COD 4 MW, COD WAW, then it just got repetitive... But There are still games that are amazing, and I heard somewhere that Microsoft was going to be anouncing the release date of their new console sometime in 2013.. Not a big PlayStation fan though.. I would be if PSN was ever up :p

AI is VERY far from mimicking actual intelligence. That day is a very, very long time away. The best supercomputers in the world can only simulate like 10% of the human brain (we're talking billions of dollars worth of equipment). From a practical standpoint, current AI is actually pretty laughable. Right now we just pretty much use brute force in order to create the appearance of AI. Scripting in all the foreseeable possible outcomes, behaviors, etc. There's no actual thought going on.

The future of gaming, to me, seems pretty grim considering that the market is so flooded with slight revisions/rehashes that there's almost no room for innovation. I don't think it's far fetched at all to say that people do not like change. For the foreseeable future, I suspect that mindless shooters will drive the market into the ground. Most games are designed around the multiplayer aspect now, whereas in previous years before things like Xbox Live and PSN single player was always the main feature. This is leading to a decline in story quality and production times are being cut in order to keep up with demand, further diminishing the overall quality.

I personally like to blame lazy console developers and franchises such as Call of Duty, Madden, etc. but hey... to each their own.

3D gaming is the next step with the adoption of 3D tvs.

I doubt we will see much change after that. Maybe just better and better graphics with new Tvs. Faster load times. No Discs. Better audio. Stuff will just keep improving.

Imagine A FPS, you have surround sound, you acctually can snipe on this map, and it is hundreds of miles squared, this map is huge, with not under 50 people playing on it, but thousands of people playing on this one game, you need to find a place to hide though, so you go and use interactive objects around you to do something (make a fort out of used tires, pick-lock into a car, or break into a house and hide there, The full out war experience. Not just in better graphics, but in gameplay

I think video games will continue to improve with different and creative ideas.

Call of Duty 4 is the only good Call of Duty by the way.

OP: GL with your hope in AI, there is no possible way it could pick up and reply to every single word you can think of. The human will always outsmart the robot because we have instinct and thought while they have scripts and hmmm.. Most games rely on scripts and reflections none the less :p.
