Why is it disabled?

 

It was disabled ages ago I believe due to it slowing Sythe down a lot. It would be nice to see it up again, providing the host will be able to support it.

 

Just use google to find whatever it is you are searching for... it's just as good.

 

You can still search a user's posts/threads off a user's profile. As for a custom search, you can't do that right now.

It was disabled due to database issues, namely it was slowing the server/site down. Ever since it's been turned off the site has been considerably faster.

I doubt it's going to stay off forever, I think only Richard would know when it's going to be re-enabled.

 

What these guys said. It was slowing the site down considerably in the same way that IP searches used to. It's probably something that will be re-enabled eventually. Google is a decent alternative in the mean time.

 

Why not add in Google search as a replacement? Although, it does cost money.

That's a lot more expensive than I expected. I'll see what Richard thinks though, as it's probably a decent alternative to having no search at all.
