rs2006

im sure theres been threads on this, but has jagex commented on how they feel about this?

if they are going to let it happen then im probably going to just drop rs2 and play that, the game was just so much more fun for me then, im a pker, i have a rune turm pure and can pretty much dominate the wild, i have 2 phats and enough cash to pretty much buy anything i want. But i watch videos and such of old school pking where all you had was a whip and dds and when you got that sick combo you were like "OMG$#@!@$!" now im dropping kids for 90% of their hp with a 700+ from ags.... tbh its all too much.

if jagex just released worlds where only items from 2006 and earlier were allowed i feel it would solve this problem, i dont feel as if jagex will simply just allow this game to exist though.

thoughts, info, ideas?

 

I feel like they would have the ability to do that but knowing jagex 10,000 gltiches would happen with like smuggled items [ because the economies would be different and everything] or some pking glitch

 

Unforunately i could never see Jagex doing this.

Why? because if they just re-released a server which was effectively the game rollback'd to 2006, they would be officially accepting the fact the game has gone downhill from then onwards, and that the game was better 6 years ago, and we all know Jagex would never acknowledge such a statement as true, every single update they have ever made they have backed it saying its in the best interest of the community.

Doing so would damage their reputation as a company, leaving them subject to huge criticism and negative publicity. Plus they obviously don't want to throw away 6 years of work, for any reason, if you spend years developing a new feature for something then everybody said nope don't want it delete it, what would you do?

lol im not trying to stickup for them here, i personally would also support such an idea, I'm just thinking of it logically from their perspective as to why they will always decline such a proposal.

 

The potential for bug abuse is enormous, also I agree with the above replies with the fact that would be Jagex accepting the fact the 2006 game would be more enjoyable. Also would they have to change the map back to how it was in 2006 also? Because that would require more than just a different server, it would need an entire new game client to run it. So infact they could release it, but you'd be logging in as a level 3, so best of luck to you finding enough people to play this new client enough to make, and earn the cash for high level pkers.

stop complaining, go play on a private server if you really want all the old stuff. or buy a time machine.

 

Jagex apperantly HATES all the classic stuff from 2005 - 2006. Since they've replaced / changed / removed EVERYTHING that was classic..
Old Font, General Stores, Old Graphics, Old Armor, old weapons, Old randoms, Drop Trading etc.

 

Can't wait to play it, going to try to max stats as fast as possible and try to be a top page player.

Wonder if people will sell gold on Sythe for it, probably.

im not complaining? it was a statement with some questions.

i dont mean revert the whole game of rs to 2006 in a server like rs2006 is doing, more of just the wilderness, tbh i think the game as a whole is better, theres just tons more to do. but as i said, im a pker. and lets face it, pking was 50x better back then than it is now.

 

im also a pker and i've played back in 2006 as well but imo i prefer new RS over old RS

 

meh i could do without a ton of stuff, gone are the days where there were tons of different viable accounts. The pker is a rune/zerk turm pure. i literally never lose to anything else, except tanks very occasionally. Used to be where 1 def wasnt just a giant pj fest, ini pures with ini and mystic were good, zerks of course.

to start the list id just say i could do without:

Claws
Korasi
New prayers
i kind of like dung but the weapons are a bit redic.
Godswords, ags specifically. on average id say most my specs are in the 500-600s. AVERAGE. i can easily hit into the 700s and its not really some rare occurance, i do it a few times a day. just a bit dumb tbh.

what im trying to say is i just want to whip/dds and actually be somewhat effective again -__- lol

 

I have to give credit to Jagex for the new prayers. Dragon claws were sort of a guarantee after rune claws.

 

the new prayers are new and exciting, but ultimately they're bad for the well being of pking. do i have them? yes. do i use everything i just "complained" about? yes. because you literally cannot be competitive if you don't use these, that's whats wrong with this.

 

Rapiers well over dominates the classic whip, imo dung weapons shouldn't be allowed into the wild, ags spec is just ridiculous as if a +132 str bonus isn't enough the rest of the gs are acceptable, as for d claws their spec drain should be increased to 60%. As for the new prayers they're all good to me except turm, it destroys the use for the other combat styles.

 

yeah the removal of these things, and korasi imo would make the game a lot better, not even the removal, theyre fun to use, just not in the wild. it makes pking a joke.

 

I don't see jagex doing this. They're already trying to kill off RSC by shutting down the 6 month trial things, they wouldnt bother taking a step back like this either.
Jagex most likely wont make a comment about the server unless a lot of people propose the idea of making an official 2006-themed server. Then, Jagex will decline the offer with some bullshit excuse and immediately start throwing out lawsuits

 

Yea nowadays pking isnt really about skill but more about who has the better weapon and who uses their spec first.

 

honestly i doubt they allow it to exist for long, they already knowingly lost tons of money killing bots. Another good amount would leave to play rs2006. Im sure jagex is aware of it and probably just waiting till they can get a good amount of money in a lawsuit lol

 

They'll wait for the release of RS2006 to have some evidence of a law breech. They will suffer immensely no matter what they do. They have a choice of shutting down RS2006, and those players who left RS for RS2006 may decide to return (Guaranteed not all.). OR. Those who left RS for RS2006 will get so annoyed at Jagex for removing RS2006 that they'll completely boycott Jagex and all their products. OR allow RS2006 to continue and lose players to it anyway.

 

They should just re-open classic tbh. I miss it so much
