People say that your pid mainly determines whether you hit first or not in staking, is it just a rumor? And if its real, is it possible to increase my pid?

Yes it's true. Though it only really gives an advantage when staking using weapons or spells i.e. not boxing. If you are doing large amounts you can request that both players log out and in before duelling so that it is fairer.

So if both players log out, how will the pid be determined? Like how will you be able to get the first hit in?

This was not a factor in 2007. Correct me if I'm wrong.

"However, the Runetek5 update changed the determination of PID, disposing of the usability of IP addresses to gain an advantage. Instead, PID is determined when you log in. The most viable (from a programmers perspective) method of determining PID is that you are given the lowest available PID when you log in (lower = faster), and you lose that PID (and free it up for someone else) as soon as you log out."

"RuneTek 5 is the current version of the engine which replaced RuneTek 4 on 2 September 2009."

    IP is current factor. :l

    Yes, IP does determine pid.

I had terrible pid a few days ago, however I reset my router a few times and I had first hit on %90 of the people I was staking.
And yes, it made a big difference.

Yep, this has been discussed extensively on "elite" clan sites. Best situation to use a PID advantage is commonly assumed to be mage boxing.

PID advantages don't affect on 2007 servers to my knowledge, as it was only around since runetek5, which was 09-10 time I think. If it did affect then it was nothing to do with your ip.

How do I lower my PID then? Do I just relog ever 5 minutes for best PID then? This would be the opposite of PID in eoc then, since your PID lowers by the amount of time you remain on that world?

I guess you didn't read what I said, but you have to reset your router.
Have a friend to let you test your first hit on him.

And to the people saying it doesn't matter, I can't even begin to tell you how many stakes i've either won or lost just because of 1 hit.

Hmm, I don't play 07 much, however your PID can make a difference when staking on rsc (am a regular).

My internet connection is pretty good since I have an ethernet cable connecting to my computer, and im around 10 ft away from my router. Even when I reset my router, I can't seem to get the first hit. I probably get the first hit around 1/6 of the time. Do you recommend having movement while staking? (ddsing scimming) b/c whenever I have a first hit on someone and I challenge them again, they keep no movement unchecked
