Why exactly did I get demoted/my mm rank revoked?

A formal reason would be: "A majority of the staff felt that given your close connections with 1227 and the fact that several of IP's matched the IP's that 1227 had been using, that you posed a risk as a moderator/OMM. There is a chance that you had simply been at the wrong place at the wrong time, however, there is also a chance that the VPN was simply a cover up so that you would not get banned. We cannot tell which is the truth, so we had to use our own judgement, and it was decided that your moderator position and OMM title be removed."
