Paypal question?

After receiving a payment via paypal, when is it safe to know that the money is yours?
Is there a limit date on which they can chargeback the payment for gifts/payments?

I believe there is a 45 day window where ALL payments can be charged-back. After the 45 day mark, I believe it's safe. Your best bet would be to physically contact paypal.

 

45 days, but payments from CC's I believe have 180 days as the buyer can claim back the money via their credit card company. PayPal don't fight CC companies.

 

Its crazy really, you just have to be careful who you sell too.

 

As RsProd said, best bet is to call paypal. However, I'm pretty sure that once you've transferred the funds into your bank account, those funds are safe.

Of course, if you cash out to your bank and later get negative balance, that's not good either. If it's a large amount they might contact a collection agency.

 

Thanks everyone, I think I have the basic idea now.

 

The limit is 180 days for credit-card payments, 45 days for all other forms, although anyone can get around this by just calling their bank or credit card providers. I had a chargeback filed against me more than a year after the payment was sent (thankfully I won)
