tried smoking for the first time couple weeks ago, nothing happened. Did a few one hitters since then, still nothing.

No, you aren't just smoking it the right away, its a beginners mistake. I normally smoke a joint and oh boy it gets me right into wonderland after about 5 minutes, I can make it to the apartment building from my spot and I can feel it by then and then I'll be smoked for another 4-6 hours. Be ready to stock up on food as well, I tend to go through a pizza and a pringles can, it sorta became a habit. I get my pizza from pizza hut and pringles can from walmart.

Had it too the first time, when you inhale, try to inhale it as hard as possible. For example you're mastrubating and your mom walks in, you need to do the same thing when smoking a joint and trust me, after about 5 minutes and 5-6 puffs you won't remember your name.

invest in a solid bong, 200$ or so and you can find some solid ones. much worth the price you pay in the long run. buy some salt and 75% alcohol from wal mart for like 5$ to clean it once in awhile to make it hit like new.

 

You can get some excellent glass on dhgate super cheap. They reverse engineer everything these days, they've even got diffusion pumps now. Shipping is a bitch and sometimes there's a minor imperfection but the glass is thick and you can do a return should your piece be a real turd if you use reputable vendors. If you're really anal you can check the pieces quality of glass with canola oil (and I'm sure other similarly viscous liquids), borosilicate will appear invisible when submergered.

I own several dhgate pieces, 2 j-hooks, a Möbius binary clone and a weird original design bubbler with a matrix perc and a claisen on the end. Probably going to pick up a diffusion pump rig next, I mainly use my stuff for vaporizing and concentrates so tons and tons of diffusion isn't ideal. I only buy American stuff and pay a premium if its a heady or proprietary design, most the "US" shit in headshops is Chinese anyways. i bought a beutiful ash-chatcher that i threw on my jet for like $15 free shipping on dhgate. would have paid an upwards of $85+ for something comparable in person. yeah the glass might not be as thick, but i'm not throwing my shit around, and im not buying it for the 'artisnal' hand blown glass factor.

i hate walking into my local headshop and seeing shit from dhgate marked up like 10x the price, especially since they generally get it cheaper since they would buy 5-10 pieces at a time.

my bong works well enough i can use it dual as a concentrate rig. not as great hits compared to a typical rig but its getting the job done. i picked up an adapter for my tit. nail that fits right in there. cost me about 25$ @ local head shop.
