If I started a resume sticky, and cleared all the posts out once a week (meaning if you hadn't found a position and were still looking for one, you just re-post) do you think that would be helpful as opposed to the current sticky?

It would just be a shorter thread, and updated, yes, but what about the employers? Where do they post? That's kind of the concern where employers couldn't bump the sticky or make their own hiring thread.

Looking at the replies to the sticky would just be the same as checking replies to their own respective thread. If they see someone they like or is suitable then they PM them.

True. But as hiring generally goes, its display your postion openings, and people reply. More about getting the word out rather than pm multiple people.

Still this is an improvement. Suppprt the resume sticky.

The general input is either requesting a subsection or allowing hiring threads in the Market Discussion all for the same reason.

Having everything merged into one thread is just a cluster. It makes things disorganized and just hard on everyone.

I honestly think you should just make it easier on yourself. Create a sticky and have a mod/admin run it. In that sticky just have businesses PM you or something of the sort with following info

    Business Name:
Type of Service: (runescape, LoL, MMO, customer service, etc.)
    Positions needed:
    Requirements

Put each respective business in a category which can be under a spoiler or can just be overall posted.

I'm very willing to help you with this.

A subsection is meh. Been said above as to why.

Allowing threads in the main section is even more of a clusterfuck than the sticky. Resume's in between discussion threads and hiring threads in between those as well. It's harder to find stuff than in a maintained sticky.

What was the reasoning for not having a subsection? I went back to read your replies, couldn't really find a reason.

Is there a good reason for this?

It'd be better organised than the current one - most common complaints seem to be the volume of posts to look through. Just offering an alternative.

Ah, maybe the older thread had the discussion about a subsection. Tldr is that it's just another half-vacant section.

Honestly wouldn't know if it would be active or not until it's tried. It's not fair to base the participation based on the current sticky we have because we have been limited inside that thread. This repels users to post in there because they feel as if it won't really be seen as posts get buried.

One solution I support is allowing us to post in Market Discussion. The current Market Discussion is lacking. Allowing us to post Job Offering's will boost the activity within that category.

Before the sticky the threads were posted in market discussion. They took up probably page 1 & 2 and it was a bit of a clusterfuck - so we made a sticky for it to go in to free up the space for actual discussion. We didn't go for a sub-sec because there wasn't enough of them.

That would hinder those looking for work, and employers looking to hire. The base number will continue to get smaller with every thread wipe. If I'm an employer, looking through 4 pages of posts should not be an issue more than it is a benefit. Every business would want a high base of participants to choose from.

There is definitely not enough activity to warrant an individual forum. Even if one were to be made, it would be inactive without question. I think the best decision is to allow employers to create threads, and make job seekers resort to the sticky. I don't think there are enough employers looking for workers to cause clutter. Threads like those are created once in a blue moon.

Exactly what I think. We should let the employers have their thread in the market section and all people looking for a job can either post in a specific thread or the sticky.

The sticky shouldnt be cleaned every week. If youre looking for someone to hire, you want to hire the one you think would be the best. I wouldnt mind searching for one hour in the thread tbh lol. Its the future of your business... You have to choose the right person.

I feel like employers should really have the right to make a thread tho in order to represent well their business.

PS: its worth a try. If it doesnt work.. Well we ll just return to a sticky! its not like trying will hurt the website. + it might work well :)

This is a post I found on the sticky. Bumping is not allowed. This is an issue because if you posted something two weeks ago, one might think that its already been fulfilled and end up not applying.

Allow employers to post threads, but limit the people looking for employment in one thread.

I think limiting all employees to the sticky and allowing employers to make a thread would work.
There's usually like 2-3 employers hiring, no biggy imo.

It seems like the general consensus is to allow employers to make threads, while limiting the employees looking for jobs to post in the sticky.

Just an update on how dead the current Market Discussion is, there are only 7 active threads within the week. Very bad numbers, so allowing us to post hiring threads will boost involvement within that section

We would like to recruit professional gamers and forum enthusiasts from sythe.org for some of the markets that we're moving into.

As we currently have over 50 contractors, when we're looking for hires we have never overlooked anything, in fact most employers will search until content doesn't exist (job postings).

If there was a hiring thread then, posts would have to be cleared out on a standardized time, or they would have to be locked after certain amount of time (to prevent spamming, and to keep the forum in check with anti-spamming practices).
