Controlled/Shared Exp disasters.

So I am busy training to 99 attack on my barrows pure and am just over 400k from reaching it (a few hours at AZ's). Anyways, the last hour or 2 has seemed to be excruciatingly slow, and I noticed my attack exp has been more or less the same this whole time. So I flip over to my attack style tab, and much to my horror, I was training on controlled exp!

The worst fucking part is that I am 75 defence, and was 100k to 76. I am now 30k to 76 defence, which means I was training on controlled exp long enough to gain 70k fucking defence exp.

Talk about a fucking fail. *facepalm* Post your controlled/shared exp disasters on your pures!

 

switched to claws on a pure somehow because of a lag got 12 defence lol

Lmfao! Like from 1-12 defence all with one spec?? that is fucking hilarious :laugh: What did you do with the acc?

 

Not controlled but summoning ruined my pure. I was Chinning Skeltons in MM tunnel and i used a Terrobird for p pot (Horrible idea) i didnt know terrobird was attacking skeleton got me 2def on my chaotic pure.

This destroyed me but now its perfect Zerk/Turm and i really enjoy it

 

Wow, I didn't even know that was possible. When your familiar is attacking an enemy, does it automatically attack on shared exp or something? I have never even noticed/thought of that.

 

Again, like others, this one isn't controlled- I was using a bot which wouldn't work for some reason. I tried all 3 of 4 places, and the place I hadn't tried was Neitiznot. Aaaand of course to have access to Neitiznot, you need to complete that Fremmy Trials quest. Well, me being an idiot, I just decided to do it as fast as I could. And yeah, i finished pretty fast.... but I never checked the quest rewards for some strange reason. Needless to say, my "pure" now has 16 defence (from 2) and it gave me like 2.7k def exp. :|

Edit: Oh yeah, and the bot finally worked in Neitiznot.

 

Hahaha i had the worst one, was bridding on my pure back in the days of the target system, got a vesta spear loot and thought i would use it. Didn't notice the controlled shared experience. Killed a kid for like 10m loot and all he said was good fight defence and as i dropped him my defence level went to 2 -.-

But yeah now its a initiate pure and its pretty cool!

 

Depend whats your familiar type but all familiar that bring stuff Terro,tortoise,pakyak its all defence exp.

 

Wow holy shit, thanks for the info! I honestly had no idea. Its not as big of a deal considering I already have 75 defence, but I didn't realize that everytime my tortoise attacks the revs or something like that, it is giving me def xp.

haha great stories, I used to be a barrows pure and decided to try out guthans, didnt realize it was ALL controlled/def (this was WAY back) almost got 71 def from it. lol

you can still do that or tell pures "you cant kill me with a butterfly net" (controlled exp) and stake em 10-100k .. worth watching them fail.

I forgot another good defence slip up that I had recently... I was 70 defence on my barrows pure originally, but I realized that doing all the quests for Piety would get me 71. So I was 71 for awhile and it was fail, and I was planning on getting 75 eventually for DFS and to just make my stats look a little more even.

Anyways, I was getting 99 magic at ape atol barraging the skeleton monkies, and I had NO CLUE that I had the defence exp toggled on... all of a sudden I level up defence and I was like WTF!!!!@@@@@@@@@@@!!

Thank god I was going for 75 anyways, or that would have seriously been an epic fail. I couldn't believe that I just maged away 100k defence exp and didn't even notice lol.

 

I was asking a friend to help me get castle war kills cape idk why I wanted it l0l
but he was mucking around on hes pure using the flag on me and running away
since he used it I thought it was ok to use it aswell LOL

Then I thought he 'lagged' and since I was trying to get kills cape
I was attacking him with the flag..
As soon as the fireworks appeared he spammed grats 2 defence

Ruined my first ever pure by picking up a bronze spear that a goblin dropped and accidentally gaining a defense level by killing goblins for shits with the speak. It was a major FML moment.

 

Lol I saw a guy on the RS forums awhile ago who gained 5 defence EXP playing Castle Wars by grabbing the flag and he had auto retaliate on. He stayed 1 defence, but that 5 little exp was so devestating for him that he whined, bitched, trolled on the forums begging for Jagex to roll him back 5 exp.
