Bumping Stickies

What's the point of bumping a sticky? I don't think bumping stickies should be allowed, all it does is raise postcount.

If stickied thread creators want people to know that their thread is still active, they can just edit their first post saying so.

 

Brings it to the display on the front page which brings more attention to it, since 95% of people ignore stickies as it is.

 

I do my donation thread every now and again just to let people know I am active, they ain't going to take notice of a thread which hasn't been posted on in 2 months and it also brings it to the front main page.

 

Certain ones yes, others no. It's a grey area as some need bumping while others don't.

It should only really be done when the sticky actually requires bumping, like donation threads. I can't really think of any other examples that require being bumped..

 

I think donation threads should be allowed to be bumped. They are many and they drop to the bottom fairly rapidly; looking like your a dead thread.

 

The reasons are stated above, I don't think we're going to make it illegal to bump your thread merely because it's a sticky. However, if someone has literally gained 100+ post count from bumping a sticky that isn't even getting attention, just PM a staff user and I'm sure they're delete some of the bumps as they aren't really necessary.
