Apple iPad - Thoughts?

I don't know if anyone here has heard or seen of the new 'Apple iPad' coming to the market very soon but it is seriously stupid. In my opinion, it is just an enlarged iPod, that's all. Take a look and post your thoughts.

Kind of useless IMO. It's basically a portable device that can play songs and stuff. I'd rather have a laptop.

 

I don't really think of it as an larger ipod touch/iphone, but rather an innovation of the current tablet pcs. Tablet pcs were a fad about 5 years ago, I remember using them at school instead of the normal comps because I liked them so much. But unfortunately, it looks like they weren't very successful in the market. I think Apple plans to start a trend with these like the iPod and the Macs.

Looks interesting, although as a poster above said, I think I will prefer to stick with my laptop/Ipod. Apple has done some amazing things with their products and marketing, so you really never know.

 

Quoted for truth. While the iPad looks just like a big iPod, apple wouldn't have made it and put millions of dollars into it if they weren't sure it would flip a profit. There has to be something about this that makes it desirable and worthwhile. But as of now, to me, it looks like I'm better off with a laptop.

 

I think the concept is nice, but it's not something I would pay for.
I've read a few articles about it and nobody completely loved it due to it's several flaws.

I'd definitely stick with an iPhone or iTouch.
With the bigger keyboard on the iPad, I'd be tempted to lay my fingers on the homerow and type, which we all know wouldn't be possible, and needless to say, frustrating.

 

Its pretty much an enlarged itouch so yeah, pretty useless. But I also don't like the design. WAY too simple. Makes it even more so just a larger itouch. Maybe it would be cool if they added some cool stuff to it... And special apps.

 

I don't see much of a difference apart from the wide screen, I still prefer my iPod Touch.

 

Nice statement, you are completely right. Apple would have some big plans for the iPad to make it lift off in the market.

When the iPod was first being discussed on Apple Forums before it was released to the market, every single person said that it is crappy and would never be a success and look what happened. We will have to see.

 

At first when I heard about the iPad I was excited. Then when I saw it's just running an iPod touch OS (not a real OS), I was HIGHLY disappointed.

 

Yeah I beleive this 100%. I think a few reasons they created an ipad is because it can do more graphic intensive gaming and it will be used for textbooks. Having a ipad would be more useful for people who maybe do not want to squint at an itouch?

I believe further down the road they will move the Touch OS over to be more like the Real OSX. There is a usefull version of the ipad with a keyboard.

Personally if they put the OSX on it, I would probably buy it.

 

I never knew that it was running on an iPod Touch OS. This also disappoints me highly but if they did decide to put an OSX on it, I would buy it too.

 

Yup, that's the main reason why everyone is dissing it. A lot of people are also saying it would just be better off to buy a netbook instead of the iPad.

This is VERY interesting in my opinion. Look at the discussion of the iPod and their reflections on it before it was released. Just really interesting to see something that everyone hated and then to see it lift off in the market.

I got this information off iPad.org:

1. iPad Wi-Fi models Release Date: Shipping in late March.
2. iPad 3G models Release Date: Shipping in April.

 

I personally think its retarded. But whatever
