Well I would assume the first thing to do is to define 'hits you:'
- If a woman is angry with me and as a result slaps/hits me but there is no threat to my life or serious harm, I would not retaliate. The same thing, hypothetically, if my friend was angry with me because I maliciously performed an action that harmed him and punched me, I would not retaliate.
- If a woman is angry with me and is trained in MMA, approaching to hurt me, I would retaliate with reasonable force to protect myself. Just likewise if a woman is coming at you with a bottle, you either defend yourself from it by hitting her or allow yourself to be seriously injured.

These cases are always fairly subjective but I feel it's about firstly measuring whether it is an appropriate response to the current situation and secondly ensuring that there is no significant harm to yourself as a result.

I would restrain the woman, wouldn't hit her. But if she kept hitting me and really trying to hurt me. I'd slug her one and see if she keeps going.

 

No, I've been thinking about this ever since you first posted the thread and I can say now with a pretty good degree of certainty that I would not. Even if she was attacking me viciously I would instead try to restrain her.

Depends on the context and severity of the attack, most of the time no you don't need to unless your life is in danger.

But nah I've actually been attacked by a woman and while she wouldn't quit throwing punches I was never really in danger... so I held her back and did not hit her. If you're actually in some kind of danger and not just scared of taking a few meaningless punches then sure knock the bitch out to save yourself but usually there's no need to hit them back because they're just not doing any damage... people just get annoyed and swing back and then claim self defense when they were never in danger
