I prefer Elo over LP but Elo was very limited in what they could do whereas LP they can change it a lot. The good thing about mmr and lp is even if you do loose and get 3lp gains and 20 lp losses by the time your lp gains and losses sorts itself out by mmr you will be a lot better at playing...

The only issue with that strategy is you miss out on a lot of CS due tower hitting, and if you aren't playing solo top or mid theres a high chance of not outleveling anyone! plus later level games i find that if you do this you will get zoned from the XP and you will not be able to out level...
