More PvM options. Easier transportation around the world and a larger variety if items.
Player count was confirmed by a jmod to have:
1. Players on OSRS
2. Players in lobby
So OSRS would surpass rs3 if F2P was implemented.
Cant argue with the count but I still disagree with 07 surpassing the current game just because of f2p. What makes you think it will other than the count accounting for 1/3 of 07?
I am not saying all the time. It will surpass it. I mean during the week. OSRS hovers around 18k (average) thoughout the week. While RS3 is around 30k. I think that it would turn out being very close in the week. maybe even weekends. with 24k that is quite impressive.
If F2P was to be brought back for osrs I think they would have very close number in players. Not to mention..the lobby players who just sit there and talk to members in clan and such. see it all the time on RS3.
If we had seperated numbers for the two servers it would make this shit easier lol
Jagex is too scared to separate the numbers. Half the idiots probably think the number on the front page is just RS3, so they falsely surmise that RS3 always has 3x the amount of players as Old School.
There are plenty of good features brought in my RS3. The dual wielding, the help to drop items faster now, skilling is a lot easier, teleportation is better, the interface can be tweaked to your needs. Fundamentally, there was an awful lot of good. The major problem is probably the combat system has swung too much in the opposite direction. Its too vast and too much too soon IMO. I think it would have been better to bring out interfaces first, then dual weaponry, then beta test abilities. But they decided to do EoC all in one go and then bring out RS3. It caused confusion, alienated some and now we've just seen tweak after tweak, which kinda just emphasizes the point that it still has issues for the vast majority of players. The only issue with the old combat was the combat triangle, but if they had improved weapons etc, I wonder if that may just have done the trick, rather than introducing abilities.
You are calling them idiots for not understanding what the number means and then presuming they would react in the way you describe? And you're calling others an idiot?

Yea it would make more sense and be easier
But also what is the ratio of bots to legitamate players in 07 and rs3? 07 right now has more bots than rs3 it seems. Bringing in f2p would bring in even more bots
And to be honest if people wanted to play 07 (which are the old nostalgia people) they would have already. Honestly it is so easy to get a bond and play 07. Spend just 2 days in rs3 to get 7m for the next two weeks
But yea of course 07 would have an increase in players. The amount it would increase? I have no idea. I think staying p2p is a smart choice
I like both versions but it's pretty bad that a huge portion still plays 07. Surely that evidences the fact Jagex has made a ton of mistakes in the live game. Some are okay, mistakes happen. But there have been so many. I think a big one is not allowing users to forego the NIS if they want to. That makes RS run sooooo slowly for me.
Its true jagex are dumb and like to listen to the loud minority or barely meet you halfway on things (legacy is a perfect example)
I think their public polls is a step so they can finally see what the majority says and screw the rs forums (would never set foot in there)
Maybe for rs3 you wont have to deal with it in the near future if legacy is to your liking (I have some hope for it)
The people who are saying Jagex are dumb need to get real here. I've played games where developers don't even respond to suggestions, nor do they even give any indication they actually play the game.
Yes, you could argue Runescape is a dying game, but microtransactions has saved it. People are buying bonds. People are buying keys. People are buying costumes. 50,000 players are playing at peak and whilst that isn't huge by any stretch, that number has stayed pretty constant. What we have is a game in sort of limbo. Regardless of what you think of the game, its still going strong and the developers do actually listen. This isn't just a recent thing either. I was a free player a good many years ago (on the better side of 10 years ago) and I reported an intrusive advert. They actually replied in my inbox and removed the advert. Now tell me other companies would give a shit about their free player base?
The way I see it, when Gower left and those new owners came in, they placed a much bigger emphasis on just milking the cow rather than growing the herd. This was a mistake because you could tell the game was going into decline with small little things (like f2p being removed of highscores, more membership adverts etc). In the last year though, although its fucking annoying as hell the developers always saying "your feedback matters", to give them credit, the owners have realized what made Jagex and RS a decent game was the fact that these developers do care. We've seen a greater shift in getting content fixed:
-Temple trekking and levelling those characters anyone?
-Magic is cheaper to train and not totally rune dependant
-Magic and ranged are definitely more important than before EoC
-The game is definitely less grind intensive for skillers. Combat is more intensive due to abilities though, which is probably the main gripe of peoples concerns.
-The interface is better. When you do set it up to how you like, it is better. But its still glitchy and needs fixing
So the only reason people rage quit was because of having to spam click abilities. Is that necessarily the fault of the developers for trying to evolve the combat system? No. I personally think it was the owners (those American ones I can't remember exact details) who I think forced their hand a little.
