Old player, returning?

Hey guys, I may be returning to Runescape.

I recently logged on to find myself as confused as an asian driver. WHAT THE FUCK HAVE THEY DONE TO RUNESCAPE?

I'll get to my question. Do I return? Have these changes benefited the standard RS player? I'm really keen to come back but don't like how its all different to what it was. Cheers!

 

In my opinion it's better to switch to different game, I dont really expect RS to rebuild it's community because of faggotry mods, moneyhungry updates and such. They cant break anymore that, what is already broken.
After eoc came out I quitted RS completely, I dont even play oldschool, but that's good alternative.

I had exactly the same reaction (minus the racially stereotyping imagery) when I tried logging in the other day.

 

07 server for nostalgia, but it gets boring after like a week or so

EoC if you want to derp around until you get used to things again

 

It's funny how this same sort of thread manages to pop up once a week or so.

Anyway, the changes are fine. I've never understood peoples anger towards them. Read up on rs wiki and rs forums for the things that have changed in the recent months and for things that changed a while ago you can read up on when you come across it in game.

If you're willing to adapt and adjust, then you're fine. If you dislike change as a principle, you won't enjoy yourself.

Everyone is so uptight about it, blaming mods and crap, have you ever thought to blame yourself? The mods are so uptight BECAUSE of RWT and bots, they have to be otherwise the game would of been DEAD already, how would you pay your rent then?

I still love the game and play it by hand, never botted my main and never will, it's easy to adjust to if you still love the game, if not move on and find another.

 

You get muted for saying "Markdonalds" that doesn't have anything to do with botting and RWT, mods are just assholes. Think of Mod Jacmob who banned Buffalo's maxed account for posting the audio recording exposing So Wr3cked (another jmod).

Mods suck, period. Jagex could have literally left the game alone half a decade ago and be doing better than they are now.

 

Right well despite all the negative comments, I actually enjoy it a whole lot more with the RS3 and EoC updates. Give it a go, it only takes a few days to get used to.

 

I gave it a try and it sucks, RS3 just gets boring.

If you want to play like you used to back in 2007, play the OSRS server. If you want a newly designed version of the game you used to play, then play RS3. IMO, RS3 > OSRS.

People are entitled to their own opinion of course, but I strongly disagree with all the rage/hatred towards RS3 today. It doesn't deserve the criticism it cops.

 

Personally, I enjoy RS now more than I ever have.

The abilities are like other MMORPGs. Imagine Rappelz or Shaiya online but with skills like mining, smithing, cooking, etc etc.

Also, think about how in those free-RL cash shop-based games allow you to move your chat, quest, etc windows around anywhere you want.

Personally, I enjoyed Rappelz a lot more than runescape, but it got boring a lot faster because it was nothing but grinding. All you did was find a dungeon party, go to the dungeon and kill shit. Quests, go kill something and come back. It got boring as fuck. But I loved the type of game-play and the "abilities" (called skills in most other games) and now Runescape has those with the option of mini-games, skilling, and so on.

So if you like the types of games I just explained, but you get bored playing them in the same ways I got bored, RS3 is probably the perfect game for you!

Seems to be commonplace. Just logged into my old account and am beyond lost.

 

To prevent being lost, you could try the old school layout to get used to everything. I have to admit I was confused the first time I logged in to EOC. Just keep playing and you will get used to it.
