Accounts are always recoverable?

Hi!

In this sticky, I read that when you buy an account, the seller can always recover it back, as he will most likely have the original IP.
Now, I'm just back on RS, and it seems that the appeal system has changed, as in that you now don't have to fill in your recovery questions and first passwords etc. , but only your registered email. This runescape wiki article also seems to say the same:
"Recover your account without an email


If you do not have an email address registered to your account you can still recover it by submitting a manual account appeal and supplying us with information that will prove you are the owner of the account.

If you have an email registered to your account you will need to use the Email Recovery System to get your password reset."

So my question is: am I right about this? If I buy an account that was created after november 2010, thus having a registered email, will the seller be able to recover it?

When I bought an account I asked the middleman to change the email during the trade, thus making it impossible for the account to be recovered unless he manually emails Jagex. I recommend doing this.

The creation date of the account is not really important, because the email log-in is not necessarily the email that is registered to the account.

 

But if I get hold of the registered email account, I should be pretty safe, right?

 

Yes I think the sticky you read was old/no longer relevant, you cannot manually submit an appeal without the email I've tried it myself.

E-mailing jagex will always work with the original IP, unless he no longer has the original ip and suuplies you with it.

 

Original owner can always recover the account, there's nothing you can do to protect yourself from that.

You're wrong,he could/can/should buy from trusted members (Such as video etc.)

 

The original owner can always recover the account with a quick email to [email protected] so don't get your hopes up too much.

 

You don't even need to e-mail Jagex... There's still the manual recovery form if you go through the forum.

An account you buy is NEVER safe.

that's true, when you buy an account from somebody there's a lot of trust involved. Anybody that really wants to has a very good chance of recovering their account.

 

That doesnt disprove my point. I just said that the account could easily get recovered no matter what, I didn't say it would happen.

 

Some one managed to get into my email and account, so I lost both. Where should I email? [email protected] or [email protected]? Or where should I post on forum?

Help please.

 

No matter if you're given the correct recovery information and a new email registered, activate JAG and what not.. it can always be recovered by the original owner. I've learned that the hard way .
