Runescape Old Graphics

How actually likes the new graphics on runescape?
Basically with EOC now armors and weapons are shit at least in my point of view they look worst than they used to be.
I loved when I went to PK, my set was rune pl8 and legs helm of neit dboots obby shield and whip it was the shit lol.
And now basically the way the character holds the weapon is shit and I'm totally used with the one I used to play for like 6 years lol.
I'm just amazed by how easily Jagex introduced EOC with no care of the old players or the community.
Correct if i'm wrong but was there a poll in the RS forums where you could vote for the EOC to be implemented or not?

 

No. And yeah I agree first it was the graphics update, now the EOC. Those were the last straw for me and as a result I quit...

 

yeah still surprises me that they change things without actually asking to us whether we want a change or not but oh well RS is kind money whore now.

 

They know RS veterans will grow out of the game pretty soon, so they have to appeal to the new market to keep progressing as a company. The newer market only see the game for what it is compared to other MMORPG's, not how we look at the game with nostalgia and bad graphics unfortunately.

 

For me, this is it. We have to see it from Jagex's point of view, they need to attract a new audience to get new blood into the game to keep it going long-term, despite negative reactions from most current Runescape players these updates were best in the long-term to attract these audiences that the game needs to keep it running, let's be honest here, after a while we would all quit, even if the game is great. Not everything last's forever, after all.

I don't really like the updates they've done to the Armour and weaponry, before they all had a unique feel and aspect to them, now most of the barrows is the same and armour like bandos etc. doesn't stand out as much as it used to.
However, the updates to the scenery, monsters and characters seemed the right step all-round for me, improves the game experience and looks more realistic without sacrificing that unique 'Runescape' look.

 

I love the area reworks too, looking forward to HTML5 (Assuming it ain't out already cause I haven't been on the Runescape main page for weeks)

 

I partly agree with what you said about the scenery. Yes it is good that they have improved it but a whole re-make of taverley was needed? My god it is shit now for me at least.
Armoury is now shit because as you said Bandos looks like Barrows.

 

The new armour looks like everyone is wearing rags, it as though everyone has mage gear on. Surprisingly the old graphic interface of gear, potions, food etc looked much more realistic.

The new d mace just looks ridiculous, along with the pickaxe and the hatchet.

 

The thing that I think, is the type of game runescape is, it doesn't suit the syle they are going for. They are aiming to make this a fancy smick mmo, when the heart of the game is the gameplay itself. Cosmetics are cool. But overdone.

 

I like the old looks more, but the new ones would probably look better to the new players who didn't enjoy the old ones so they will be like 'wow this has good graphics for a browser based game'.

 

I would straight up swap everything the game has now to what it used to be say in 2006/2007, but that's because I had the most fun back then and I never like the big changes Jagex brought in. As for the graphics, I think they've gone a bit over board .. most of the armors makes you look like a transformer, and the scimitars etc look like toys, the old graphics where classic and it's how I remember the game I loved.

 

In my opinion, the best graphics they've had were around 2010.

I'd prefer those above any other, at any time.

I personally would swap everything with 2008/2009. It actually looked classic in 2008 - 2010, because that was before the HP / EOC / Armor update / weapon update - crap, I hate how all the armors look, look ugly and I hate how they made the pickaxes / hatchets / weapons look... it was the last thing of the old RS besides the combat system.
Battleaxes and Hatchets were the last old rs stuff remaining. (look wise.)

 

in sumarry, it was a long and nice journey untill jagex did the ultimate irreversible fuck up.....

those of us who played rs pre-2006 are getting to old for the game anyway, time to move on or just make $$$$$ of it.

I personally like the new graphics. the walking animation could be worked on a bit. I like the new armors better EXCEPT for the dragon full helm. All of my friends except one and the clan im in like it as well. So it must be pretty popular, I've played since early 2003 and I'm in a maxed combat clan that is currently ranked within the top 10 on the clan high scores. So you cant say that this is hated by older players, even though it IS targeted towards getting a new generation to play the game, many old school players are enjoying it alot as well. I support the EoC as I play other MMOs that the only "skills" are combat attacks, and the ability bar I find to amazingly combine the MMORPGs that I love with the runescape skills that keep me un-bored.
