Explanation of the trade: I made a thread in the dicing section of the forums, titling my thread '$5 to the first reply' as in 'Betting $5 to the first reply'. How they scammed: Soren(see profile link above), posted on my thread with a roll, and rolled less than me. Meaning I won. The user then added me on skype as I requested through PM only to tell me he wasn't going to pay because I didn't title my thread "properly", saying he assumed my thread was that of a giveaway. My title didn't have the words FREE or GIVEAWAY in it, therefore the only logical explanation is that it is a bet for $5. Yet the user chose to roll on my thread.

In his defense, your thread is pretty unclear. I would've thought it was a giveaway too.

 

In my defense, anyone who's ever done a giveaway in this section has had the words 'giveaway' or 'free' in the title. Mine does not.

It stands clear that the thread isn't a giveaway as nothing about a giveaway or something being given away for free was specified ANYWHERE in the title or within the thread.

 

I don't know about that, I'd have to disagree. To me "$5 to the first reply" means you're giving $5 to the first person who replies. But I'd be happy to leave this open for another staff opinion just in case.

 

If you went to a gambling website, and played against someone who's offer was titled "$5000 to the first roller", would you, as they say; "YOLO" and roll, thinking you're given a chance at getting $5000 for free?

You end up losing, and you've now lost $5000.

My title is pretty much 'I am betting $5 to the first reply', without the 'I am betting' part, because the section and what it is used for speaks for itself.

Based on the location of the thread and how you set it up, I'd say Soren owes you $5.

I don't see what's unclear. Had he not rolled in the original post I may have thought differently, but that's not the case here.

 

This is exactly what I am talking about. So many people are ready to jump the bandwagon because of what they believe to be the case, not what is contrary to the belief.

 

Didn't want to make a report over $5 in the first place, but seeing as I was instructed on doing so, that is what I did.
