Explanation of the trade:
Was attempting to purchase battlescape gold and made a thread. I received a message on discord saying he was selling. He refused to send a message through sythe but the discord on his sythe profile matched the one I was speaking to. After being very hesitant because he refused to message me on sythe or use a middleman, I went ahead because his profile says he was a $1,000 donator.

How they scammed:
Met in game to give him the gold, he took it and said "gg idiot" and blocked me.

*I know I should of been more hesitant and required more confirmation but I seen he was a huge donator and trusted him. It's on me, lesson learned.*

 

@Mont it's likely you were impostor scammed. The Discord ID means next to nothing these days. Can you give me the unique Discord ID of the person who scammed you? If you don't know how then check out this thread:

I've been getting rampant messages recently in regards to an imposter using my identity, on both discord and sythe - about 15 messages from different people in the last 3 days. (this is more than messages received for ACTUAL business in the last week.) I asked for someone who was messaged by the imposter discord to copy and paste the name directly into a conversation with me. The imposter is using a special character that looks 100% identical to the P in my discord name, and using nitro to copy the discriminator. I don't use nitro for discord and that is the first tell tale sign. I am at a loss for how I can help prevent these sorts of things from happening. I have my unique discord ID in my sythe signature. Might I suggest updating the discord trade sticky thread that is using won_gold/won__gold to also use this as an example? People need to realize discord users can look 100% identical, and until then, this is bound to continue happening. I'm sorry for your loss @Mont.

@Mont - Please review the Discord template to prevent this from happening in the future: Discord PM Template and ALWAYS request a confirmation PM before trading with someone. Double check and match the names, timestamps on conversation, and verify the unique ID of both members.
