Since Nate is taking a leave of absence, and I haven't seen anyone else offer to start one up.. I was thinking about making my own RSGP donation service.

However, before I go send off $500 to Matthew, and then find out nobody is interested in donating, I'd like to gauge the community's interest in this service.

Long story short, who's interested in donating via RSGP, and how much are you looking to donate (Money wise, like $5/$25/etc).

I'm readily planning on donating once a month or so in the $5 range, once I get my wealth flow back.

Thanks guys.. So far $40 worth of donations? Guess there's a decent demand for donations :p.

    Added a poll.

Just so you know, you cannot just start up a service. You need personal approval from Matthew if you plan on proxying for other peoples donations ; )

Thanks for the heads up :).

I figured as much. I was obviously going to ask Matthew before I went through with anything. I just wanted to see how many people would be interested in this, before I did anything.

I'm sure he won't have a problem with it though, as long as I'm putting down a deposit?

Ah, well I guess it's out of the question for me. His decision, I guess, but I feel like that's silly. If I'm putting a deposit/bond down, what reason is there to deny it? Either way Sythe is getting the money, so I don't see how it matters. Not my problem though, less donations for Sythe, nothing changes for me, so I'm not worried.

Did you see how many vouches I have?

You have 63 vouches. I don't think thats a lot. However I probably could trust you with a $25 donation.

But I doubt you will be able to do this after reading Nate's posts...

65 actually, not sure how you got 63, since they're nicely numbered in red font lol.

Do you understand how it'd work though? I'd donate a set amount, through WU or mail, let's say $500. Then I'd have $500 worth of donations to pass on to other people. Say you wanted to donate $50. You would give me $50 worth of RSGP, and I'd tell Matthew to give you $50 donator status.

I would gain ABSOLUTELY NOTHING by taking your GP and not doing anything with it. In fact, I'd probably end up losing money, considering I already donated the $500. Say I used up $200 of said amount, and then I decided to "scam" you for $50 worth of RSGP. I would end up losing $250. Not only that, but I would ruin my decent rep on Sythe, in order to LOSE money? No matter which way you spin it, there's no way that getting banned AND losing $250 sounds like a good deal.

This is a moot point, since I'm probably not going to be allowed to do it, but regardless.. I'm a slight bit perplexed at how people are saying they wouldn't trust me to do this, when: 1) I was doing it to benefit the community, and to bring in more donations for Sythe, with no actual benefit to myself 2) I'd be shooting myself in the foot if I "scammed" 3) If I didn't follow through, I'd end up losing money and getting banned.

Does it make sense to you? I mean.. if you can name one way in which I can scam people and actually profit from this, go ahead. Because I can't think of one :embar:

Ok thanks for clearing that up. I thought you gave $500 to Matthew and you would accept unlimited donations.
Sounds like a good idea now. >_<

Not at all :p. In that case, we'd be giving out free donator statuses haha. It would be like me going to a store and buying a gift card with $100 on it. I can use that gift card for myself, or I can bring 10 different friends to the store, and have them each buy something worth $10. Either way, the store already received their money, and they don't care if the credit gets used by 1 person or 100 people.

I'm glad you understand. I was trying to figure out how to explain it without sounding like an idiot. :embar:

I don't think it was very wise for Sythe.org to rid users of being able to donate to the site via RSGP. Sythe.org is simply losing money. It would be helpful for many users to actually donate. For instance ME, I cannot donate via WU or Mail. I can only donate via Paypal or RSGP. Since neither forms of donating are offered I am still not a donor. I was willing to donate 50-100M in RSGP, thats between a min. of $30-60 that Sythe.org could have gained. I believe Sythe.org should return the ability for donate via RSGP, but have someone as trusted as Nate to run the operation. Though, a person should not be assigned this task without payment. I believe whoever runs the operations of donating via RSGP should be allowed to keep 5-10% (maybe more) of the donations recieved. The problem is finding another trusted member such as Nate, for it is hard to aquire trusted users now adays, and has the time to run the operation. This is my next suggestion, maybe the donations via RSGP shouldn't be run by just ONE person, instead maybe a TEAM of people to run the operations with assigned hours (like a job).

Sorry for the rant, quite blazed and can't find anything else to do but this and MW2.
