Right, I am going to start this by saying my views on this. I don't agree with people luring, let me tell you why. I think it is just plain horrible for one, some people buy their items with real life cash just to loose it because they don't know the up to date lures. Some people even get their items for birthday and christmas presents just to get it taken, I know some of you will say "well they should learn the new lures" well some people just don't have a clue about them and fall victim to them. After searching on Youtube I found some live reactions of people getting lured and end up getting their Party Hats taken, this makes me feel so bad for the people who have them taken from them. For example this video of this poor kid who got a Purple for his birthday and got lured and lost it after his parents bought it for $690 from a site. He trusted the guys he was with and then they just killed him and took it and laughed at him over Skype imagine if that happened to you, how would you feel if someone did that to you. Here is the video that I was talking about,

I know some of you will say its part of the game but I don't agree with that to be fair as it is taking advantage of people who are not so aware of the game, so now I have told you guys my views on lures what are yours.

I've seen that video before infact. Luring is something that people do as it is a quick money maker. I think that lurers don't feel guilty, so they can do it over and over.

Ultimately in my book it's no different to scamming.

Scammer ~ convinces the victim he is trustworthy, steals their stuff.

Lurer ~ convinces the victim he is trustworthy, steals their shit.

But CLS Product has made a huge amount of money and does give back to the community.

Still, the guys who loose the stuff to this "CLS Product" don't get their items back.

My opinion of luring changes reguarly. It seems all of the big lures are a result of the other persons greed. As you see in this video by #L2Lure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQxloKq5zh0&feature=plcp. In the last clip they lure a green, and the person who got lured was actually under the impression he was teamed with 'G o S L' and was luring the other person. If he was not so greedy and was not trying to lure himself, he would not have got lured.

In some views I don't have sympathy at all for those who get lured, especially in those situations. But I do still view it as scamming. It's like getting someone to trust you with a green party hat, and them just logging out. But instead it's getting someone to trust you enough to go into a dangerous zone with it and kill them. The person actually luring is still taking their items against their will.

I saw a vid yesterday with someone luring someone for all their chaotics. What does the lurer get out of it? That's defiantly not right. I guess though as long as people keep falling for lures it will just carrying on happening. I do see it as scamming in a way, I have mixed views on it.

I view it as the apex of social incompetence and as such I feel nothing but disgust at the victim's stupidity/naiveness.

Okay, that's pushing it. But I don't view it as something inherently wrong, to say the least.

It's wrong, but it's not against the RS Rules at all so I doubt Jagex will do anything to stop it soon. I lost my old level 27 account back in 2005 to a scammer, I only managed to get it back after contacting Jagex 6 years later, there was hardly anything on it anyway. I still felt pretty pissed off at the time.

It's one of those things, everyone in Runescape should be lured/scammed for their banks atleast once so that they learn. It's one of those steps you take to learn not to be stupid enough to get lured/scammed again.
Although I think that the second someone PMs you with some random offer, delete + ignore, it's still a bit weird when people track you on Skype or Facebook so that they can lure you.

    Creepy

Theres a better vid of a kid crying over skype after getting his partyhat lured, nd his parents literally begging/ threatening the scammers for it back. was hilarious

No sympathy felt here, its happened to all of us at one point or another.

I don't necessarily have any sympathy for the people who get lured, everybody gets scammed at some point. But in my opinion, that's exactly what luring is. It's a scam which will never be completely eliminated from the game. IMO, it should carry the exact same punishment though it seems Jagex doesn't really care about luring.

I agree about the part where some of you guys said how you would feel more bad for people who have spent years earning one, but I also still feel bad for people who have bought one. I mean if they want to spend their money on one they can.

It didn't ever to me. Why? Well I blame my common sense. There is no way to get lured if you're thorough.
