    Your Thoughts on Religion?

Organized religion is a means of which to control society. You grow up being forced to attend church and CCD classes at an age in which you are not mature enough to even understand what you are being taught. Being an Atheist, or lacking a belief in a higher power, is frowned upon this day in age. Why is that? Why is it wrong to not believe in a God? This world, our people, the air in which we breathe, ground in which we walk on; it is all science. Things don't happen because of "god". This this you call "god" is all inside of you. Religious writings were stories made up to make sense of things happening in the past, before science could explain these happenings. They were never meant to be taken literally. There are beneficial themes in the bible, etc. But religious wackos drive me nuts. There is no tangible evidence in a single word 'you' preach. Please...

Please do not take any offense to this if you are a devout believer. This is meant to share thoughts and ideas. I can expand on what I am trying to say here.

    Your Thoughts on Religion?

My thoughts on religion are spread over many different areas:

    • Religion has it's merits and it's flaws and almost all the flaws can be attributed to the people high on the totem pole in organised religion
    • True Christianity is a good thing to have in your heart. Although it has been shit on by followers who don't practice and throw words around like Hell, Fire and Brimstone etc. An do try to boss people around.
    • Religion isn't a competition and shouldn't start arguments. If one person wants to believe in religion , why try and stop them ? And vice versa.

I personally do believe in a Christian God and my saviour is Jesus Christ. I don't try and sway anyone, I was never forced to church as a child, I spent a few years as an Atheist. Right now, I don't practice organised religion although I do attend Methodist and Catholic churches randomly. Also to answer a question in your first post, if anything it isn't frowned upon by anyone to be an Atheist, besides the elderly and your parents. With people under thirty years old , I think it's the new fad. Although I do believe it's hard to be spiritual without having a spiritual experience first.

Another thing I would like to add, the hate towards religion on this site and in the world is unwarranted. Religion is abstract, people hurt people, Religion does not.

    Your Thoughts on Religion?

Yes they do, but they are stupid enough to fight over it, or fight for someone for it. Religion in my mind is a very personal thing, and should never be fought over. People are doing the hurting though, it's not religion's fault. For example, I could kill someone if they insulted my friend, and kill in the name of my friend. I would go to jail and my friend would still be free as he did nothing wrong.

People hurt in the name of many things though, money, power, entertainment... Religion I am not very opinionated on. Most people here at Sythe though don't like religion because of various reasons.

How do you define "true Christianity" and what makes you so certain that it is correct?

    Your Thoughts on Religion?

That's a very hard question to answer, but I will do my best. I think true Christianity , or the way I practice it, is to be a good person, do good works in and show God's love to others in short. I am not perfect and I don't practice perfectly.

As for your other question it is very easy. I don't believe any religion is particularly wrong or correct. I believe everyone worships differently and that's why there are other sects of Christianity and other religions period. I choose to follow this religion because of spiritual experiences I have had.

    Your Thoughts on Religion?

I do not believe that there is a god, or any higher being for that matter. But I do think that people should practice religion. For example, if somebody is a good christian, he will try to live by the rules set by bible.
Even though I think that the bible is utter garbage, it teaches us morality and empathy, both very important values in our daily life.

Religious wars and/or violence are another things. They should not happen, and should not be tolerated. If a person wishes to practice another religion, he has the right to do so.

    Your Thoughts on Religion?

If you are feeling like you are lacking something spiritually , I would suggest taking some meditative time in a quiet place with no distraction and search your 'soul' and try to find what it needs. No electronics, no media, etc. Just you and nature.

    Your Thoughts on Religion?

When you're at an young age you are simply not 'forced' to attend curch or whatever. It is a part of raising you're child. E.g: I am a Muslim, yes when i was young, i went to the mosque with my parents they taught me almost everything. They even explained me everything at a level that i could understand everything, so ur statement is false. This was not 'forced'. They just want the best for their child. Who wouldn't? Grown up as a Muslim and i still am one. I can still stop being a Muslim and be a Atheist or whatever. My parents won't bother me, no one can. It's up to me in what to believe, so is it for everyone.

There is nothing wrong with not believing in God. You have the right to not believe in one, all up to yourself.

The world has not come out of nowhere. Stupid theories like the big bang theory make no sense at all and can not be proven with science. Do you really think we have arise from nothing? Look around and you will see God everywhere. A simple example: Look at nature, every creature has its own task in the nature .Look at the structure and order of nature. Have you ever seen a bear, who said of you know what I stop being a bear and I am a lion now? The biggest evidence is that the Qur'an stated that the moon was splitted in halve 1400 years ago when there was no telescope or microscope prove me wrong.

I can't answer this one because i did not study the bible.

Watch this if you want a clearer answer.

    Your Thoughts on Religion?

I just wanted to point out the glaring flaw in this post. I am an atheist, and have been since I was about seven years old and I realized what was what. Whenever somebody finds out I am an atheist in real life, I am in some way discriminated against at least 3 out of 4 times. Whether it be a comment like "You're going to hell", a condescending statement, or just a look that silently communicates "How can you not believe in God?" It's hardly a new fad, either. We are at a unique time in history where the scientific evidence is coming together and the standards of living are at a point where people are not feeling the effects of repression. People are generally weak minded; when in times of peril they generally feel the need to look for something bigger than their situation, this is where God comes in. Things like the internet have made information widely available to people who search for answers, which has indirectly lead to an increase in people finally seeing the scientific evidence. I would wager to say that one day, non-religion will overtake religion as the major worldview as more scientific evidence is uncovered/observed.

If you are going to make an assertion, back it up. "Stupid theories" Oh, really? Is that why nearly all of the top minds in the world believe in it? You know, I'm not usually one to just go with what someone else believes, but if I were I would make that decision based off of someone who KNOWS THEIR SHIT. Would I rather believe some priest who is trying to spoon-feed me stories from a book written by people from a much less advanced time who needed a way to explain some of the natural phenomena in nature, or a 21st century scientist who has devoted their life to finding the answers using the most efficient way known to man: the scientific method. I don't know about you, but I'm going to go with the scientist. You say something can't come from nothing, but why? Why do you think this? Is it because it's all you have ever known? You know, back in the day, you would have been laughed at if you made the assertion that the world was not flat. Just because we think something is true at this moment in time does not mean that it is. Your example involving nature proves nothing, you're only stating facts. There is no correlation between the natural order of the world and God. Also, you very clearly lack understanding of the theory of evolution (inb4 it's just a theory) if you think it's as simple as making a major jump from a species such as bears to lions. I have no clue what the fuck you're talking about with the moon splitting 1400 years ago, I'll assume it's some bullshit story within the Qur'an comparable to Noah and his Ark from the Bible.

It's also important to note that the Big Bang theory does not state that something came from nothing. The universe, as we know it, was simply in another form called the singularity. The singularity can be thought of as a collection of all matter and energy into the smallest point imaginable, a point of infinite density. It's best to be thought of as the universe existing as pure energy until the point at which it began expanding, into which we now know as the universe.

    Your Thoughts on Religion?

I personally have no religion my self. Yet I believe there is still a omniscient being somewhere like god, I believe in it because through the world of time and space, there have to be a omniscient being somewhere thats so called "Perfect" into the dept of the infinite space. Yet I do not believe in religion. If "God" is truly something like the way that people believe in, then he won't really care how we live our life, if God is a truly good being, then he won't really care about religion. Basically people should view God and Religion in 2 different views.

    Your Thoughts on Religion?

If you studied science enough then it clearly states that if Time and Space exists, then there is a Omniscient being such as God, but religion is a whole different thing. Stories like the Qur'an and Noha is retarded and that religion was probably created to teach people a lesson how to live their lives in a good way, but apparently it went overboard.

The very nature of that website is inherently biased, choose your sources a little better lol. That would be like if I was trying to argue that 9/11 was an inside job and my proof that I cited was from a conspiracy website.

    Your Thoughts on Religion?

I like the positive messages and ideals that most religions try to deliver, but the way they go about it/other messages they send I don't like.

People should be good because they want to, not because they fear some kind of 'divine consequences'.

It's hard to articulate this for me....I don't believe in a Higher Power or an Afterlife.

I guess it just annoys me that religion prays on the part of your brain that wants to believe in a God and an Afterlife.
