Maybe it's just me.. But I act MUCH more differntly online than i do in real life.

If any of you knew me in real life, the saw what I've done on this site you would seriously be VERY confused.

Let me tell you a little about me; outside of Sythe.org.

I am a laid back person. You probably know that.. But I am more laid back than you think. I am smart but I get C's and D's in school because I refuse to try and show my true colors. I've gotten into some bad drugs, people, and activities.

Now that you know who I am outside of Sythe lets reflect who I am ON Sythe.

I am laid back. I take my time in responding to peoples posts. I am hard headed in my beliefs and I will back them up no matter what. I probably some across to most of you as at least mildly intelligent. I don't care what people think of me, or what I do while on the internet.

Now why is this? I believe it is because when i am online it gives me the anonymity i need to express myself and really project HOW I actually feel. I have come to a point in my life that it seems almost as if I am leading two totally different lives. And its weird.. even though I live my life as Eric Martin, I strive to be shakaka. This probably confuses you.. What I am saying is that when I look at my real life, I see a person who is not going to do much with his life.. Probably get a decent job.. make an ok living and live a mediocre life. But when I get into a deep thought about how I want my life to play out, I want much more than that. I want shakaka's potential life. Somebody who strives for greatness, respect, and leadership.

So the point of discussion is; do you lead two different lives in "real life" and on the internet?

We are very much alike o.0 it would seem.
    '
But yeah i am pretty much the flipside online than off cause of the anonymity also, when i used to play RS i was always chatting it up with people and many people liked me and thought i was 'cool' i guess. But irl i have a very select handful of people who i talk with, and random people make the mistake of confronting me and this is because i'm shy, silent, not a conversationalist...well not about anything that doesn't inspire me but yeah. I was dwelling on this a while back and it seemed very peculiar to me how i could have lead these 2 different personas, each one only known to certain people ^.^

I think this is true for everyone.
The internet, with all its allowances of self expression, can give (especially young) people the perfect opportunity to express the real them.

Some people get carried away and the internet is their life. For instance I started typing this whilst crossing the street, now I'm waiting for the bus.

I laugh my ass off when people are embarressed of playing online games.
I mean, seriously, if your mates don't accept your a wow player (not many people will though lol, jk) then they aren't real mates.
All my mates accept the fact I'm obsessed with maximum tune 3, counter-strike: source and that I'm proud to be an RS player from before the update.

Actually, there's a kid on purecommunity (or was, not sure haven't been on in a good 5 months) who went on google and search gangster, took those images and put them down as being him.
He wanted to be a gangster that much, it was frigin hilarious lol.
But that's taking the fake persona to a new level haha.

To avoid being completely off topic, I am more or less an exaggerated version of myself online. I'm a lot less passive, but I think the same thoughts and pursue the same paths, mostly.

I think the reason why people act differently online than in the real world, is because you can actually talk to who you want to. When I'm in school, I'm forced to be around people who just won't understand me, nor will try.

But when I'm online, I can talk about what I want too, If I find something boring, I switch sites. I'm no longer forced to talk to people that talk about what happened last period, or why they got a bad grade on a test. The real world is extremely dull. Even with friends outside of school, most parties I go to, I find very boring. You can predict what will happen. The internet is just different.

I don't really think I lead two lives though. I consider all of it my life

Hmm, I'm generally an asshole here and in rl...

I'm outspoken and make good grades in school. I'd hope to come across as intelligent here as I try to do in rl.

I pretend to be retarded a little... I just pretend that I have no clue what I am doing to get people, but whenever someone actually spike my interest I have no problem messing with their head and really talking to them. I don't really need the anonymity of the web to express myself, I would rather just lie to people...

I would say I am pretty close to the same in real life and on the web.

I'm act more intelligent in the real world tough... I'm much more of a relaxed personality online and more like my true self tough... It's just hard for me to be myself without having some people yapping on shit about my opinions and ideologies. Online, I'm anonymous so I can share how I really feel regarding certain issues in my life without being under a type of peer pressure what so ever. Only a few of my friends have truly understand how I felt or thought and here you have contact with a large variety of different types and kinds of people so it's a good thing.

Ya in RL it's really hard to be your true self, it's easy to make pretty good friends online, but not in RL.

Yeah, well what i meant was that i can say something to you guys and i really wont get in trouble.

The worst that can happen on this site is that you get banned.

If i were to do the same thing in real life, then i would get in shit loads of trouble.

    Awww thanks man... >.>

    1) What does grades have to do with anything? Why are people pulling grades into this?
    2) With what has been mention about people not understanding - or refusing to understand... I lived in North Queensland for just a bit over a year.
I stayed there to complete my year 10 thing, so i can continue in year 11 in sydney (because i skipped a year, i needed my year 10 leaving pass to continue my advanced schooling lol).
    I met 5 gamers...
1 - Played wow, obsessed with it, only left the house for school and to work to pay for wow...
another, played wow and css, the mate that brought us three together was a computer wiz and played alot of games, and the final 2 didnt tell anyone about it.

The reason gamers were so hushed up there, was because it was (in my opinion) an all aussy community. Not only was Mackay a small town (Tell me its a city i'll flame you till you cry), but it was populated with nearly-nothing but australians - (teens) most of which were skater/surfer lads.

When you said, "Yeh, I play Runescape"...BING - mark against your name.
When you said, "I like to play runescape"...BING you dead.
    *Runescape = example

Gaming just wasnt socially accepted, however in Year 11 - SAC in sydney, I met heaps of madass people (mostly asian), some of which were all gangster and everything... and I could still have a conversation with them about the latest game release, or talk about Monster hunter, DDR, the whole she bang.

They dont even care that I've spent more the $2000 on the one arcade machine, nor do they care that I know how to hack, that i like to buy/sell/trade website or that I have 3 websites, with potential for a fourth.

I personally think it is multiculturalism that has made gaming more acceptable in sydney, even though most gamers i meet are aussy, but it could also be that sydney ISNT a sheltered shit hole...
    who knows...
