    Marshall Reveals A... SMARTPHONE?!

    Many of you will know of Marshall as an absolutely legendary manufacturer of amplifiers, this company where the top dogs in the market from the 70s through to the 90s and are still a large reference in the market.

    Recently they have started to broaden their product line into the headphone/earphone market, this came as a success for them as they were already well known in the audio/audiophile industry.

    On July 16th their new smartphone names "Marshall London Phone" was unveiled at the Soho House, London. It is sporting some very interesting features and I am sure many of you, like me, are actually considering this as something to pick up. As an audio enthusiast I can only imagine the work and design that has been put into this with the quality of Marshall goods, but could this just be them testing the water to try and increase revenue like a lot of their other 'fad' items (such as the fridge they released)?

    The new Marshall London is sporting some, seemingly, ice breaking features for mobile audio technology;
    - The phone features two dedicated 3.5mm audio outputs at the top of the phone so that 2 listeners can simultaneously listen with different volume levels.
    - The "M-Button". A dedicated push-button at the top of the phone, in between the two audio jacks, gives you quick access to all your music players, including Marshalls native and pre-installed music player. This player supports most popular formats such as mp3, mp4, AAC, FLAC and many more.
    - The Marshall London promises high-quality sound with the inbuilt speakers using dual speakers and enhanced bass technology which is powered with a a dedicated HiFi-grade sound card, the phone is capable of playing lossless FLAC files giving justice to your old music files.
    - Instead of the usual up/down button volume control featured on almost every smartphone on the market the London has a dedicated scroll wheel with tactile feedback for absolute precision to allow you to find that "sweet spot of sonic goodness".
    - One more very impressive feature, the phone is boasting a stereo microphone for on-the-go recording with excellent noise reduction.

    Overall I think this phone has the capability of being a great release for the audio enthusiast/audiophile and given the correct thought and development could be a clear-cut choice for anyone who likes high-quality sound.

    As much as I love the idea, I'm afraid this phone is more of a gimmick rather than actually useful.

    is it just for music or you can make calls and stuff... why don't they make something just for music? -- I'm sure that would be more reasonable than a smartphone in an already extremely competitive market.

    Tell me about it, all the stupid little splitters I used to use, this would of been way better.

    Yeah me to, knowing Marshall it will probably end up being like $600 for non-flagship specs lol.

    Indeed, however it is kind of a cool concept.

    It is a fully functioning smartphone with an in-built dedicated (HiFi grade) sound card for increased audio quality.
