Your Full Guide to Preparing to Auto [SCAR, SRL, SVN, HowTo Auto]

A lot of people have been having trouble getting SRL, includes, etc. So I'll post this guide which I also put on SRL-Forums. Have fun reading this easy to understand guide

What do all of these abbreviations mean?

SCAR - Shit Compared to Auto Rune

Scar is the compiler we use, made by Freddy1990. In case you're wondering, AutoRune was an autoing program a few years ago that was pretty much perfect. However, it was detectable and Jagex eventually figured out how to stop it, so it's no longer alive.

SvN - Subversion

In order to keep up-to-date, we must somehow all be able to easily update. Subversion makes this easy. All it takes is a few clicks and you're updated. I'll be explaining more about it later in the tutorial.

SRL - Scar Resource Library

SRL is a Library of includes. Includes are filled with functions that make scripters' lives easier. They can do everything from find a color to typing a sentence. This is what this community is about. Devs keep it updated with bug fixes, new functions, and lots lots more.

So how do I get SCAR?

Go to http://www.freddy1990.com/scar.php.

Click the big, green download button to get the newest version.

Now install it. If you're unsure how to install follow these steps...

1. Find the .exe file you downloaded, and open it.

2. Click Next.

3. Read through the agreement, select I accept the agreement (if you accept) and click Next.

4. Click Next.

5. Click Next.

6. Select the options you want, and click Next.

7. Click Install.

8. Click Finish.

Now you have installed Scar. Yay!

Now, open Scar. Click File. Click Download Includes.

Click OK.

We're done with Scar now, onto SRL and SvN!

How do I get SRL?

You get SRL through SvN. Time to set up SvN

Download SvN

Now if you don't know how to install it, do the following steps...

1. Open it

2. Click Yes

3. Click Next

4. Read the agreement, accept it (only if you really accept it) and click Next

5. Click Next

6. Click Next

7. Click Next

8. Set what options you want and click Next

9. Click Install

10. When it's done installing, click Next

11. Click Finish

Woot! SvN is now installed. Now onto the slightly more complicated part of activating it....

Open Scar and click Tools. Now click Options. Click the last tab called 'SRL Download'.

Click 'Subversion Repository', then click Move Plugins, and then click 'Checkout'. You'll now be updated to the latest SRL Revision. Now click OK. Next, click File, and then you'll see two new things...

NOTE: If you're getting an error ("Could not move Plugins"), go here - http://www.srl-forums.com/forum/tutorial-solving-couldnt-t32887.html.

When you want to update to the newest Revision, click the top one (Update SRL SVN). When you want to go back to a previous revision, click the second one (Update to SRL Rev), and then type in the revision you want.

Congratz! All of your tools are set up! Now onto the fun part.

I have everything, now what do I do?

Head over to the scripts section and download a script. Follow the directions the author has given you to set it up. Once you have set everything up, press the green 'Play' button at the top of Scar. To stop a script, press 'CTRL +Alt + S'.

I'm getting errors...

Do the following...

* Make sure you set it up right (Check out my other tutorial - http://www.srl-forums.com/forum/tut-howto-set-t31789.html)
* Make sure the script isn't outdated (check for positive response in the past week, + make sure that there aren't any outdated includes, ex: boxbreaker, squig, etc.)
* Make sure you have the correct Revision the script is intended for
* Make sure you have the newest version of Scar
* If it still doesn't work, post your error on the author's thread


I don't like Sythe.org's scripts...

Join up on SRL-Forums. If you have 10 non-spam posts (spam includes posting irrelevant things, things such as 'it works good', 'lol', 'haha' alone in a post) and have been registered for a week, you get Junior Member status. You get access to banking scripts of which there are a lot of updated ones. Better yet, learn to script and you'll become an SRL Member, having access to the best scripts (excluding the Devs' stuff ) and you'll be able to make your own.

What's an 'army'?

An army is your army of autoers. It's a good idea to use scripts that have multiplayer and have your autoers rotate. This will decrease your chance of banning. Each member of your army should be level 30+ and wearing non-default clothes. Nowadays, it's hard to transfer items to one account, but look around the forums and you'll find some methods.

What does SMART mean?

Scar Minimizing Autoing Resource Thing.

This is useful if you want to use your computer for other things while autoing. It minimizes your autoing, enabling you to use your mouse and do anything you want. For more info, head to the SMART section of the forums.
