Alright, so, most of you use google to search? (I'm guessing), well, if you use www.blackle.com, it IS google, but a kind of environmentally friendly version!

What's Blackle? Simply put, Blackle is Google with a black background. Apparently if Google had a black background color, the world would save over 750 Megawatt hours per year. The reason: computers use less energy to display black than bright white. It takes about 74 watts to display a white page while only 59 watts to display a black page. Although Google will probably never go black, imagine if Google could send this message out to all the people who have Google as their home page. Every time they load they internet they are reminded of pollution and ways to save energy. Google has the power to change the world.
So, why not use this?

A computer (or anything else for that matter) that is turned off, but still plugged in can draw up to 40% of their power.

If you want to make a difference, unplug your computer when your not using it.

solar panels can even save you money. if you live in a sunny place in california and you buy a solar panel, in 4-5 years you can pay off the cost of the solar panel and from there its free energy.

To be honest, I realized that, but I couldn't care less.

 

There's a theory I studied on quite a bit, that was mentioned by my Science teacher one interesting lesson ...

70-80% of ALL Greenhouse gases is Water Vapour. around 20% is CO2 and the other part is Methane and other gases (ESTIMATE). Now, By increasing CO2 and Methane emissions, you are effectively warming the earth, correct? Warming the earth causes more Water to evaporate, which means more Water Vapour. More water vapour means more greenhouse gases. More greenhouse gases means more heat, and more heat means more evaporation.

Therefore, even if everyone DID start to reduce emissions, the Earth will continue to heat. This is not the only theory that states that the earth will heat up anyway, but its a large one.

Therefore, I don't care if people keep omitting CO2 and other gases - It isn't my problem to solve, nor care about anyway.
