    Yet, another (proposed) build.

I'm promising my self that I'll stop putting this off!
But I have raised my budget.

    CPU: i5-2500k http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072

    Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138332

    RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428

    PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152028

    GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130759

    Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147108

    DVD Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204

    Hard Drive: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-500GB-1...Disk_Drives&hash=item19c158066f#ht_3503wt_975

    Wireless Thingy: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704045

If anyone has any feedback or suggestions.. or if it simply won't work, please please let me know. I'll really appreciate it!

    Concerns:
    1. The case says that USB 3.0 is required? That's odd for a case. Should I just shell out another 20 bucks for a slightly better Motherboard?
    2. Will a large GPU such as that fit the motherboard? I have no idea how to check that.
    3. I chose an outdated but cheaper hard drive. Will this be fine or should I shell out the +$25 for a more modern one?

Really, I'm mostly concerned as to whether anything will fit or if I'm missing anything. Thanks for any help though. I REALLY appreciate it!

Everything you have listed will work fine, but there are a few problems.

    1. The H61 WILL NOT be able to overclock your processor. If you are planning to overclock in the future, you will want a P67, Z68, or Z77 motherboard.

    2. The processor you selected, (i5-2500k) is an UNLOCKED processor which is mean't for enthusiasts looking to overclock. Unless you're planning to get a better motherboard, or upgrade in the future, i'd get an i5-2400 to save some money, but yes, you will be fine if you decide to go with the 2500k.

    3. It would also be wise to get a motherboard that supports USB 3.0, might as well stick with the current hardware, right?

    4. The power supply you picked is a no-no. The power supply is THE most important component on your computer, if it blows, theres also a chance your computer will go down with it. ALWAYS choose a sufficient power supply from a well-trusted company such as: Antec, PC Power & Cooling, Corsair, Cooler Master, Thermaltake, Seasonic, etc. Just ask about the power supply if you need help.

    5. The GPU you chose is pretty outdated, it's also 2 generations behind. Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent card and can still handle most games today on max settings with your setup. Just a tad bit old. And the card should be fine with your motherboard, I see nothing wrong there.

But no, that case doesn't REQUIRE USB 3.0, but it does accommodate for it. If you stick with the H61, you will not be able to use the blue ports on your case.

And the wireless adapter you chose is a good one, I actually have the same exact one that I bought of Amazon for $15.

If you have any questions/concerns, i'll be around.

Yes, I suppose I was trying to skimp slightly on the motherboard. Could you suggest a solid Intel motherboard for a fair price? (Under 100 if possible)

And am I going to be able to find a better GPU for the 200 dollar range?
(Thank you very much for the help.)

The Gtx 480 should fit, but I would send [email protected] an email and ask them if that specific gtx 480 will fit (just include the link to it). Their tech support is amazing and they answered all my questions.

I have no experience with white label so I can't say, but it's 500GB and 7200RPM so you should be fine. If you do order that gtx 480, I would use the SSD as the boot drive and use the 500GB as your storage.

The motherboard iFreshMez suggested seems good, but has no reviews yet. You should be fine, though. I looked at it's manual and it says it has a USB 3.0 header connection so you can connect your front usb 3.0 to that.

If it has USB 3.0, SATA 3, and he isn't going to be crossfiring/sli, I don't see any point in going with a board over $100. I can see that his budget isn't *too* high and I think it would be better to spend the money in the graphics card or the processor rather than the motherboard.

Of course this is different if he intends on upgrading the system later on and wants to SLI that or wants more than 2 RAM slots, etc.

What I meant was, don't get Biostar. They're a terrible company.

I don't really think I'll need more than 2 RAM slots with a build like this in the future though, right? 8gb should be fine.

Someone suggested I suck it up and get a more modern ~$300 graphics card. Thoughts on that?

    Thanks guys :)

You should be fine with 8GB. You could go 2x8GB if you really wanted to (it's like $40 more) but for gaming you won't really need it imo.

As for the ~$300 graphics card, I would go with the gtx 660 ti. Comes with borderlands 2 for free. :D
