Proxy questions.

Have never used a proxy before, only HMA, so I have a few questions.

1. Can proxies be used on a mac?
2. Are there different types of proxies in terms of being completely anonymous? Do some protect my original ip better then others?
3. Where can I get a top of the line proxy? I am willing to pay.

2. I suppose there are different types, however they all do the same basic thing.
3. I would go for a VPN rather than a proxy, you have to pay for most of them but most are decent speed and reasonably priced. It basically changes your IP for your entire PC rather that just using a proxy site through a web browser.

 

Can I play on a vpn conveniently? My main concern is I don't want something that has been whored out by others in the past. I would want something premium that has never been used before if that is even possible.

 

Yes, there are VPNs that you can use for gaming. These may be a bit more expensive however they are usually very high speeds.

Yes. SOCKS5 are the good ones. You want Highly Anonymous or Elite, not Anonymous or Transparent. Anonymous basically says that you're using a proxy, but doesn't give your IP. Transparent will give your IP. Highly Anonymous or Elite will not indicate that it is a proxy or give out your IP.

Well, there's plenty of free ones around the net, but those have been used many many times. As said above, a VPN will work too, but again those have been used before. Check out a VPN from Blackshades though, that might be what you're looking for.

And if you want to game through it, be prepared for a ton of lag.

 

In the past I would play on HMA with no problem at all, no noticeable lag. How anonymous is using HMA? I basically want something that you describe as "elite", that jagex wouldn't know i'm using something.

 

I doubt JaGeX would go that far as they don't have the time or resources at their disposal. Your best bet is to purchase a VPS on a 1Gbit line or even 10 and setup a VPN on that VPS. This will mean your IP will remain the same rather than being rotated on HMA and you wil be the only person using that IP/VPN.

 

I need to actually play to make gp, playing on a vps wouldn't be effective. With HMA you can set it up so you use the same ip every time, there doesn't have to be rotation.

 

He wasn't suggesting that you play on the vps but rather tunnel your connection through it. You should be able to use any vps as a vpn, basically.
