How do people make money from upgrades?

Ok, so i see people selling membership upgrades at around 8-10m ish and I was wondering how they make money from that? Since you cna buy 10m for around 5$, but runescape membership for 1 month costs 7.50$?

I'm just curious as to how they make money and how this works?

 

Some people buy them with phones from stores so they don't have to pay. I've known someone on Sythe who buys from someone for $2/1Month because the person he bought them from stole them then somehow made them work.

 

you go to a grocery store or somewhere and say you lost your phone and you need to use the phone to call someone. Call jagex's number and memorize the code, and you've got an upgrade.

 

I know some pll working at phone shops. They activate a subscription on a simcard and get a shitload of pins before the provider blocks the subscribtion on suspicious behaving.

This all is illegal, that's why pins are not allowed on Sythe, only upgrades.

Upgrades are not very profitable to sell unless they are either stolen (which obviously isn't allowed), or if you managed to get them very cheap in bulk or something like that.

The only reason I've ever bothered selling upgrades is that its much easier for me to obtain small amounts of gold, as I am not able to just directly purchase gold right now (long story, complicated circumstances). But I do die a little inside every time I sell one, knowing how much money I could save buying gold in bulk with direct cash

 

They are usually stolen....

 

They dont use their own phones

 

yeah most of them are probably illegal or there are lower rates in UK i beleive so they are probably getting the gold a bit cheaper by doing pins.
