"The discovery caught scientists by surprise because the planet was previously ruled out as a habitable country."

    Lol.

A light year = the distance light travels in one year. Light moves at 186,000 miles per second (yes, per second), or 300,000 kilometers per second. So it's very, very far away. Nothing we're capable of building atm would reach that destination in under a few centuries (I think our fastest shuttle is about 20,000 miles per hour give or take)

Just calc'd it, it's 117313920000000 miles away from Earth. Yeah.. not feasible. Plus all the things we "know" about this planet are guesstimates at best.. it could and probably will turn out to be a wild goose chase.

Pretty amusing quote from the article. Anyways I think it is pretty cool to know that we can be supported outside of earth, however also very depressing that we will probably never have a chance to visit them first hand.

It's annoying because in the future, maybe a thousand years, humans will be able to travel farther than we ever imagined. Look at how far we've gone in the last thousand years technology wise? Yet by then, we'll all be long dead. >_<

Well we can't exceed the speed of light, and as mass and size increase we get further and further away from said speed. No way in hell we could travel there in 100 years (as in the time taken to travel from point a to b)

Technology can only go so far... and this is not in our grasp.
