im so sorry for your loss, just think hes in a better place. Money will help you and your family but you should always remember your grandfather.

 

Grief over the loss of a close family member is normal. Even in special cases like this. You will get over his death relatively soon, and move on with your life. After the grieving process is over, I think you will come to the realization that you have just inherited a heap load of money. You will use this money to better your future/families future which will make inevitably make you happy. Just cherish the close memories that you've had with him, and thank him for the further happiness he will bring to you in your life.

 

I just realized I turned into a son of a millionaire.

 

Keep in mind your dad isn't going to get it all in one lump sum.

Why in the world would WE need him to PROVE he just inherited four millions dollars?

What wolf said. This is just so low of you if you think someone who loves their grandfather, would joke that he passed away and inherited 4M. What is even worse if you don't believe he inherited 4M, but you do believe his grandfather died or you'd have asked proof for that.

He didn't inherit it, his father did. His father wouldn't just flaunt it and show everyone what he got. It would be a foolish thing of him to do what you're asking, and that's just stupid of you to ask for proof.

It's best you don't post proof, regardless of what was said above. It makes you a target on Sythe and possibly in the real world.

@OP, I don't think you should be happy for the money, nor sad for the loss. You should be grateful to have family you love enough to miss when they're gone. You shouldn't resent the fact that everyone must die, it's a natural law whether that makes it easier or not. So coming back to gratefulness, you obviously know that money isn't the equivalence of love, but to leave you such an estate should give you an idea of how much he cared about you guys. Be happy he's in a better place if you're religious, or be happy he doesn't have to suffer another day from old age or worldly sickness, if anything. If I could give you any advice, it would be to make the money into something good. Don't tarnish his last wish by squandering it, make him proud by doing something with your life. For example, go to college with the money. Or travel, and broaden your mind and your cultural awareness. Get enlightened

Whatever happens this is really your father's money, but I expect you'll be able to go to a good college and if your dad is smart you could earn quite a bit by investing properly

 

it seems that people don't understand that your father inherited the money and not you...There is a BIG difference between yourself inheriting 4M dollars and your father inheriting 4M dollars. At this point, unless your father is extremely generous, you would have to wait to get what is left over or built up from the original 4M until your father dies.

NOTE: I am using "you and your" as a way to explain it and in no way reflect the OP or what he is thinking.

Honestly though, if it was me, I would be really happy. My grandfather on my mothers side was an asshole and considering I just met my dad less than a year ago (I am 24) I wouldn't really care for his dad....

On the other hand, if I was close to the person, I would be really upset, than probably be happy that I have at least access to some of the money he left, which would make my life a little bit better. Isn't that what we all want? To save and hopefully be able to leave something for our family to at least live a little better life than they are now?

I say you should mourn than decide how you feel about the money.

 

Money won't ever make up for the loss of a loved one. On the same note, You can be happy for the inheritance and good fortune you're family came into and you can mourn for the loss of your grandfather. Can you not be sad for the loss of your grandfather while also being happy for the money that your father has inherited?

If you had said you were happy, majority of posters would be flaming hard.

You're in a "double-edged sword" situation. On one side, your grandfather died, which is why you naturally feel happy, yet, a little bit of you is happy because he's going to a better place (if he was sick/ill/injured etc) plus your dad inherited 4M which could be drastically improving your standard of living.

So yes, it's natural to feel sad.
