Would you rather win the lottery or live twice as long? And Why?

Except in this case. You dont work again, buying 40+ years of free labor. Somehow i think winning the lotto is better than watching everybody you’ve ever met, die.

 

Unless we're talking $50m+ then definitely live twice as long.
It's incredibly easy to reach $1m by aged 40 and by that point you'll still have ~150 years left.

150 years of letting $1m compound at a modest 8% will net you over $100B by the time you pass.
(1,000,000.00 * 1.08^150 = 103,172,350,067.00)

This can be left for your ancestors or charity etc. Yes it sounds crazy but thats the power of compound interest.

And this is if you do NOTHING during those 150 years after you turn 40.

Yes there will probably be economic turmoil or world wars during your lifespan, let alone crippling inflation. But with your years of wisdom i'm sure you'll figure something out.

 

This, what’s the point if all your family and friends are gone? Get the money now and enjoy it with them.

 

I would 100% rather double my lifespan, that's on the condition my body also understands that and for the rest of the 90+ years that I'm alive past 90 that my body isn't just shitting itself on the daily basis. I love the thought of being a historian Druid who just soaks up the worlds energy even if it means being alone.

 

The difference is you won't be old. They're waiting to die, you won't be. Do young or middle aged people lose purpose once their parents and grandparents pass on? No

We're acting as if all people die of old age as well. Plenty of people lose kids and friends. Yes its terribly sad but they move on with their lives, because they still have plenty of life to live.
