Would you like to know when you die?

Question: If you had the chance to know when you were going to die, would you want to know? Why? Why not?

Yes, it should be, but what if it wasn't?

I'm not saying that when you find out, you die.. But, what about just knowing? Say i'm 19 and someone offers me the chance to see when I die and I say yes .. I see that I die when i'm 83 .. Phew!

However, when that time comes, you'll either be the saddest you can get because you KNOW it's coming, or you'll be the happiest.
You'd have time to set your affairs in order and help your family out before you die .. Plus contribute to the entire world in those many years! :]

 

Lets say that the person tells me that I will die when I'm 69. What if I shoot myself, or commit suicide at 68 years?

I wouldn't want to know when I would die. Also, I don't see how this thread fits correctly in SFA.(not trying to backseat)

 

This contradicts itself. If you know when you're going to die, you can decide to die at another point. For example, if I know that I am going to die at the age of 80, I can take a gun, and put a bullet in my brain. I will have defeated the prediction.

I would want to know when I die, because if I were say, 20, and I was going to die when I was 23, I would want to do as much as I can before I die, try to enjoy my life as much as possible in those 3 years.

yup i would try to prevent it. dont give a shit if some zombies come and kill me and drag me to hell.

 

I wouldn't want to know. The reason is if I did know then I would be in a rush to complete something in life and could die in that time.

 

Of course i wouldn't. Your life should be about having fun and influencing others, now about trying to avoid or anticipate death.

I would love to know. Life is pretty much pointless right now, so I don't see any harm in knowing when I'm going to die. We already know we will die, theres no use in pretending were invincible.

 

I would like to know...my reason is because then I could cause disaster in the world...

 

i would want to know because when i go, i wanna go out with a bang. not curled up in my bed and just not wake up. i wanna be out partying or doing something crazy

If you knew when you were going to die, wouldn't you die at that time? Logically, if you're source were true, something would happen to stop you from dieing, right? Killing yourself would make it a paradox, so something would have to be done to stop it. To stop it, you'd probably need to go to the past, to alter what you're future. But if you go to the future, and think about killing yourself again, the paradox would repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat, until, it gets to a time before your source tells you about your doom. Time loop in otherwords. I think.
