Would it be against the rules if I

posted a thread for people to exchange links on eachothers websites.


Ex. Bob puts freds link on his main page and fred puts bob's link on his main page to exchange traffic.

I know this is on the verge of advertising but I think it'd be okay, but just to be sure I figured I had best check first.

Also would it be okay to do post exchanges? Like 5 posts on someones forum for 5 posts on the posters forum?? To get things active and such? I saw other sites similar to this one have threads like this in there.

I don't see why you can't, as long as you don't advertise your site here. Don't take it from me though, just wait for another mod to respond.

Well, the "Almost Advertising" is out of the question. (Your posting your websites name, so it would be the same as all else.

Also, who would want to do post exchanging?....

In my humble opinion, he is talking about something called "link building", this is used mainly and solely for advertising and help ranking websites in search engines (google).

The way google works is that it looks forward website pages "referenced" by other ones following some "key words", so that when you ask for these key words he/it gives you the pages that were the most relevant (ie most referenced).

Link building is a very lucrative business (i mean the guy next to me atm earns his life doing it), and there are many types and "levels" for the links, and if they are lateral or bi-lateral, and how long they last (forum links last very long).

In no way i'm saying it is legal or not, just stating what i know about the matter.

No. You would be the only benefactor of that sort of relation, therefore you must buy an ad at the bottom or top if you want your link to display here. The links are shown all throughout the website where you see the adbright banners.
