    Sent as gift chargedback?

I sold 100m to a guy from here. And we did it in 25m increments. He sent me all money as gift. And I thought that gift can't be charged back because that's what I read everywhere. I am new to paypal btw. So today I see on my paypal account this:
    Inquiry by PayPal Temporary Hold

all money he sent is now gone.
what does this mean? How can he charge back if it was sent as gift? Can I do anything to get it back? pls help me.

Gifts can always be reversed/disputed/chargedback. It looks like this was a paypal inquiry though, which means that it will probably be reversed back to him. He might have sent the money from a proxy or a stolen paypal account. Sorry to say, but don't count on getting your money back

Well he can only get his money back once, but he can get it back for any payment he's sent to you

Fact it - there is no way to prevent chargebacks with PayPal. There are ways to make it harder for your sender to get it back (i.e invoice for completed service such as webhosting or something..) with the fact of getting it back, if you're over the age of 18, call PayPal and tell them that you want it looked into properly, I.Ps matched and all the stuff as they don't investigate properly otherwise. If not, I think it is safe to say you've lost your money. Sorry for your loss though.

I had trades like this before and it was gift but I got charged back. I dispute it and I won a few. Out of like 5 charge-backs, I managed to win 3 cases though.

You should only be trading "trusted" users via paypal. Chargebacks are inevitable regardless of the payment method or note attached. They simply don't support virtual goods.

    Sent as gift chargedback?

All PayPal accounts have been known to give chargebacks, purely because they can put unauthorised claims and if they used a VPN when they sent the cash it looks asif someone else did it. The only difference with gift compared to service is that they can't do the 'didn't recieve the items'
