yeah, it's still a trade limit you can only remove by paying a fee even if it doesn't effect you yet

 

I think it's a smart move.

3 months ago, the game was almost dead except for botters and pkers.

The amount of people that I see in game, doing quests, and training skills legit... talking to each other! It's ridiculous how much it's gone up since they kicked the bots out.

This is the rebirth.

Those before the update are uneffected, and those who've never played before won't know the difference.

It will never affect me, since I don't need to create an account...I have 2 138's to deal with already.

F2P is a fucking demo, which even Jagex clearly states. They previously had/still do have too many features as it is.

It's not like you will get much more than 25K/hr for free legitimately in F2P anyway.

Even if I did make an account, it wouldn't be F2P for more than 2 seconds. F2P RS sucks dick compared to all the advantages of P2P.

In the scheme of things, to a Gold Farmer, a membership isn't much for a mule account.. Say they sell of 1b of their stock, that's 450$ Selling to a bulk buyer, spending 6$ outta that isn't much. So it's just a way for jagex to make some more money and hopefully diminish some of the smaller gold farmers sales, leading them to quit doing what they do. Smart move to be honest, smartest JaGeX has been in a while.

 

Jagex is definitely upping their business ethics. I believe this is only just one of more major updates to come over the next few months.

I think removal of bots was good even though I botted and still do. My problem was with gold farmers. I do not support the trade limits even if it is going to stop these gold farmers, I think there needs to be a more direct approach. Many new players could have friends and non be able to get money from them that would help them which I think is very stupid...

 

New players can receive as much gp as you want they just cant give....

 

What's the problem with this? First of all, if you're not P2p, it's almost impossible to make good money.

1. This can potentially increase profits that Jagex as a company makes.
2. Everyone wants to be P2P anyway, this just give them one more motivational reason to become P2P.
3. 99% of active players ARE or have been P2P, so it doesn't affect them.
4. I'm not making a new account anytime soon that I'll need to xfer money to, are you?

You make some hefty assumptions here.

1 - if they leave a 'bad taste' in the players mouth with F2P then there is no way to convert them to P2P, therefore ruining an already shaky F2P experience isn't smart.

2 - Everyone doesn't want to be P2P, they're slowly taking away what was good about the game and also refer to point 1.

1. So, if they weren't planning on becoming P2P and this just encourages them to not become P2P, what does Jagex care? Either way they don't make money off of them becoming P2P. I'd say more will become P2P than not.

2. I'd say that if you actually play, most people DO.

3. I never said it was a statistic, it was an exaggerated point. Also, people who are not P2P would have made their account before the update, so it doesn't affect them whether they have been P2P or not.

4. I think it's a valid point.

 

Do you see those ads at the top of the page when you play free to play. Jagex gets paid for them and I am sure they make quite a bit off of them - probably around the same as membership. Some people actually play and they play free to play, but I believe this is going to start a trend towards the game going back to trade limited. After the trade limits are fully reinstated then the game will die. I mean if you look nearly half of their player base is gone, and a lot of those were actually P2P, and it is my opinion if they keep pushing updates like these then it won't matter for too long. They should release Stellar Dawn anyway.

Personal opinions are no basis for an argument, so point 4 was moot.

 

Correct; they get paid for the ads. People pay them to advertise on their site. That has nothing to do with people playing F2P. It only matters if those people regularly CLICK on the ads, which I guarantee you none of them do. Clicking on those ads results in more money being given from the owner of those ads.

The only thing more people venturing to Runescape.com is making the site itself worth more because of more daily/total visits, but I'm pretty sure Jagex isn't planning to sell RuneScape.com anytime soon, so...
