    Wisdom Teeth Surgery

Hey guys. I don't post here often however I need some personal support with an upcoming surgery I have next week. I'm getting all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth removed next week and I'm a nervous wreck. I have no idea what to expect as I have never been "under the knife" or undergone any operations. I had a meeting with the oral surgeon a few months ago and he said they were going to give me laughing gas followed by IV anesthesia. He said they were also going to shoot Novocaine in each of the wisdom teeth that he will be pulling.

My main concern is the procedure itself. I know after the operation I'm going to have some swelling and bruising and I'm fine with that at this point. I simply can't get over what the procedure will be like. I have never been under any type of Anesthetic and really don't know how dangerous it is. I've always had fears of waking up while being operated on or saying something embarrassing/stupid while they are working on me.

Tl;dr: Basically, for those of you who have gotten all 4 wisdom teeth removed. What was the PROCEDURE like?

I would appreciate all your help and could use any assistance I can get.

    Thanks!

They give you an i.v. that puts you to sleep, and then when you wake up your head is wrapped in cloth. They will prescribe you Lortab 7's more than likely, and some medicine for the nausea (you will swallow a lot of blood). It is not all that painful, the worst thing is you will be on a liquid diet for about a week, maybe 2 if you are a slow healer. Of course there are those that ignore the dentists orders.

All in all it will not be painful, just take your medicine, and don't sell them to a buyer.

Make sure not to drive yourself!

Edit: Had all 4 of mine cut out, not pulled.

Basically, you're going to go into a room with a bed, a big tray with the anesthetic, lots of tools, etc. It might look a bit intimidating but honestly it is not a big deal. The doctors will give you an IV which is painless and will hook the anesthetic up to it. They'll walk to through the process and as soon as it's started you will be passed out within two seconds. It is extremely powerful and the whole thing is administered by a guy who went to university for 14 damn years to give you that medicine. You'll wake up-- there may be some blood and discomfort but you can't help that. Take the pills they give you which really, really help. And you shall be fine.
