Windows 7 To Windows Xp -facepalm-

after having a keylogger i decided it was time to reinstall windows (7) so i go through it and i thought it installed on the hard drive so i reinstalled from my hardrive via my computer make which was preloaded on there. (acer) so it gets to 100% and then boom windows xp! WTF@@@@ im stuck with windows xp now from 7 - RIP VIRUS RIP WINDOWS 7 - I cant get it back because the disk i installed windows 7 with is ruined and yes it wasnt a dled disk it was genuine ;/ im so pissed off right now i miss windows 7

 

Your post makes little sense. I understand what your trying to say though I think. And didn't you notice when the setup was different? Why don't you just get some linux? Now is an excellent time for you to start experimenting with new OS's and dual booting if you don't know about that shit yet.

 

Call up microsoft and they may send you a new disc for free / a few dollars. If not try and find a friend with a windows 7 cd and just install off that and use the cd key on your disc, just be sure it's the same version.

He's saying he was infected with a virus, so he reformatted and attempted to reinstall windows 7 (even though reformatting doesn't erase your OS, as far as I know...). Somehow it gave him WXP instead :x

Anyway, in all seriousness: stick with XP. You'll be better off anyway. But it would suck to waste the exorbitant amount of money you undoubtedly spent on W7

As a side note: check to make sure that your computer isn't just set to XP theme. Right click on the desktop, go to preferences, blahblahblahb, go to where it gives you themes and make sure it's on "Windows 7" rather than "Windows Classic" or "XP"

 

Well if he already bought win7 then why not use it? formatting a disk will erase all the data on it. He had to physically choose to install win xp instead of win7 by putting in the wrong disk.

 

Sorry i didnt make it clear - when i brought this computer it had windows xp preloaded on the hard drive - i then went and brought a windows 7 disk and installed it on the computer, i then had a keylogger few days ago i decided to whipe it - i hit alt f10 - and it opened acer recovery mode which reinstalls windows - and it installed windows xp. and not 7 - my windows 7 disk is scratched so i cant get windows 7 back now this seems so old having xp -

NOTE: I Restored to acer Factory Defaults.

 

Ohhhkay I understand.. Well, If you still have the license key, you can just download the version of windows anywhere and use that code with it, as long as it's the same version.
