hey guys i have a problem. when i start up skype my pc just crashes and i cant do anything. windows is stuck and it wont let me do anything orther then ctrl + alt + delete, but when i open task manager its crashes, so thats useless whats wrong ?
How old is your computer? Also, what windows are you using? I remember my friend telling me on his new laptop with windows 8 he was having the same problem with other programs. I'd try deleting skype and re-downloading it because something may of gone wrong with the download. Apart from that, I can't offer much more advice because I'm not sure on your computer/windows etc. Another problem might be a virus as well it may not be 100% skypes fault.
I would recommend taking it to a computer repair shop if you have the money. They maybe able to tell you what's wrong and possibly a solution in fixing it.
safe mode is fine my laptop is completely fine. its from 2012, its a samsung laptop. i got it for around 600 euro. ever since i did the skype update skype fuckes up. i used the old skype and my pc worked fine on it but since i updated it it fucks up everything. edit, if would be a waste of money to bring it to the repair shop just because skype fucks it up and im running on windows 7. everything works fine except skype.
Few things which might help. 1. Make sure windows is up to date 2. Uninstall and reinstall skype(reboot after reinstall) 3. Make sure windows firewall isnt preventing skype from running For a deeper explanation go here https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10382/why-does-skype-for-windows-desktop-crash-my-computer
One more thing you could try is un-installing skype and while you have it un-installed go into Computer-->Local Disk-->Documents and Settings-->(Pick Your User) -->Application Data-->Skype Now make sure everything in that folder is deleted. One more thing, go to Computer-->Local Disk-->Program Files-->Skype Now make sure everything in there is deleted. Then re-install the latest version of Skype. You do this because when skype updated that time it may have stored a corrupt file in one of those folders and it may not have been removed when you un-installed. If none of that worked i'd suggest reverting to an old version of skype (one you said worked) and just wait until skype releases another update and may have fixed it.
I would only do that as a last resort... things like reinstalling, rebooting, googling the problem are way more practical. A computer repair shop will charge you $100 dollars just for walking through the door, and all they are going to do is google the answer anyway.
