you wont get a virus from thepiratebay.org,
you could get a virus from a torrent posted there, always check comments before you download.

you could try other popular torrent sites, isohunt, and demonoid to name a few, Demonoid.com is probably the one you have most chance not downloading a virus as it needs a referral link to get to make an account there (i'll PM you if you need one).

This thread made me rage a bit, if you're looking for 100% safety use a private tracker that has an upload team scanning everything that's uploaded.

I use IPTorrents and am very happy with the torrents there but it's invite only - I've got some available but they will cost if you want some ;)

This is the internet. Nothing is truly 100% safe. The fact that you are trying to torrent media means that you should understand the risks of p2p filesharing.

A public torrent tracking website such as TPB may contain torrents that are infected. Make sure you always have antivirus software active and that you scan anything you download before opening it.

Only downloaded from trusted users, and VIP users, and you will be fine. Be sure to read the comments before you download any torrents.

    The chances are really small.
I download tons of stuff with torrens and i never got hacked. I don't even use a anti-virus or anything.

But it all depends on who is using it.
    nothing is idiot proof.

By all means use the Pirate Bay but just download torrents with good reviews and the torrents that are the most popular. Thats what i do and ive had no troubles from it.

Whenever you download scan it with your Virus protector. If it comes up clean you should be safe, however you can't always been 100% sure.

Also, what virus protector are you using?
