No, unless jagex did something really really pro that is able to remove all bots(UNLIKELY) But rsgp prices will drop in time

 

I think the items that keep being put into the game will decrease in price, while the rares will increase in price.

 

Actually the main problem is the inflation of gold as a result of bots "creating wealth" (combat bots, multiple runes bots etc).
This is easily fixed if jagex would create gold sinks that would take gold out of circulation (vendor type items).

 

It's fair to say that the elimination of bots is almost unrealistic though, isn't it?

 

Not really, the technology exists to eliminate all bots, especially injection based bots.

 

Jagex will never eliminate bots

resources are dirt cheap now and 99's are easy to get

Jagex has tried making skills that require a lot of money (summoning, construction) but it hasn't helped

so Jagex came out with a skill that requires 0 money but could not be botted (Dungeoneering) which ended up failing. . everyone bots dung now

The problem isn't so much botters. .I dont care for bots @ soul wars or people botting ivys for 99 wcing, gold farming is what is killing everything. Resources are so cheap and there is so much gold eventually gold farming may not be profitable. The cost of membership + vps on multiple accounts will eventually be more than the amount of profit retained in one month. We will see mills drop to as low as 10 cents/mil.

Not counting dicing/staking the only method that makes a lot per hr is frost drags which requires a lot of initial effort to get 85 dung and a decent combat. 2m/hr = 20 cents an hour, you could make A LOT more working at a fast food place with a lot less effort. If you're running a vps or have a high end computer you would need 40+ bots to match min wage in the U.S. as a reference. 40+ frost drag bots. . .and this is relative to the current frost dragon bone prices which are declining. In the future they are going to be dirt cheap too.

This thread is depressing to a gold seller . I just recently got into gold farming and already the costs/month aren't much lower than the total profit/month.

 

Gold will continue to fall for the rest of runescape's lifetime assuming the game does not change. Demand is simply nowhere close to supply. Demand more or less stays constant while supply is continually shooting up, resulting in a gradual decrease in gold prices.

The current rate is about -5% a week.

 

I think citadels will slow down the fall, but not stop it.

 

Prices will continue to decrease until something that'll remove gold from game is implemented. Too much supply, too little demand.

 

I don't see the price of gold raising anytime soon. Not unless jag-x does something drastic that combats the massive amount of bots. Gold farming is far too easy. At the current falling prices it is diminishing returns and eventually profit is so low it's not worth the effort especially for those with busy lives. In due time perhaps but it would be all on the makers of the game.

 

Guys prices will be low a few months more but I suspect Jagex will increase prices of items in game and add a few more expensive items and skill to balance the supply.

I really do believe Jagex allowed this great supply to happen, for now.

I hate to say this but, I really do miss what runescape was like with the trade limit. i miss rs 2007 and before even more, but at least the trade limit made it so an average f2p player could make some cash since lobbies were 600gp ea

 

I don't know about the rates however if they take free trade away again.. the amount of players that would quit Runescape would be unbelievable.

 

Unless there is a mass ban on bots, and all of them are rolled back 100% cash / stats.

Including the half legit ones and the gold farmers.

Then gold will be more wanted, and there will be a hell of a lot less of it in game.

 

People will always undercut, its just how business is done. There is always going to be someone who wants to sell cheaper than you.

 

Exactly, and it's not exactly a bad thing. A competitive market is helpful to the consumer and the 'retailer'.

To people saying gold will fall to prices like $.10/M, I have a question for you: Who would bother to gold farm for that price?

If there is no one to do it, price goes up. Hence prices will at some point find an equilibrium.
