Junglers, how are you reacting to the changes?

Hey all! Speaking to jungle mains here. I main top/jungle and I've decided to switch primarily to jungle after seeing the changes this season. After trying a few games, I've noticed that my original guess about champions that would have power shifts was correct.

Lee is now too weak early to clear the jungle healthily, which is where his strength was. Everyone's "Lee is always op" seems to be fading. To clarify, it's still doable, but he's lost a lot of early pressure.

Assassins that scale into mid/late are seeing huge power spikes. I completely dominated face with Shaco (as predicted pre-patch) and vayne jungle. Master yi is loving the changes. With new jungle safety and the own-jungle smite (champ-slow smite is also a very good call here) he's going to be doing ridiculous damage again. Attack speed champs in general are very useful. Unfortunately, udyr still isn't super viable, though with the new dragon changes the two "sneaky dragons" which can be easily solo'ed before lane phase give your team enormous amounts of lane pressure, making "Godyr" a viable strategy for yolo-q.

I'd like some opinions of other junglers, no matter the Elo! I'm a platinum player personally, though once I fix my toxicity I'm pretty sure I'll be up in diamond, my mechanics and knowledge are there, my ping is a tad high and my rage affects my play, but I think I can do it.

For those looking to "rise from elo hell," the old jungle carry option just got real. I don't mean pick yi and cry when your team loses lanes because their xin ganked and you didn't, I mean getting very comfortable with all of the new jungle buffs, items and reacting accordingly to the enemy jungler. With shaco I've shut down two lee's already (hard counter) from counter-jungling and the respective machete upgrade.

EDIT - I'm finding sustaining pretty difficult now with the jungle items, even on junglers that are normally pretty healthy. The "regen while in combat with monsters" buff is not very beneficial, and i'm noticing forced-backs and early vamp rushes on my shaco games which is NOT okay.

Well i am maining jungle since the start of season 3 i beleive (first 2 season had no idea what i was doing) and on each season my most played was Lee Sin, and let me tell you you're more then wrong about him. I don't know how you clear camps and get unhealthy nor the idea that his strength wasn't/is on clearing camps healthily but imo he is still same as before, not to say stronger. It might seem like the junglers now have to go more ad sacrificing their tankiness, but the changes on randuin's make Lee Sin same as he was before the cloth armor being removed from randuin's formula. The only problem with the new jungle i have encountered is regarding the lane champs health drop after trying to clear 1 camp.

 

How are you staying healthy on your first two clears? I haven't been able to gank early with anyone but shaco, ww and hecarim. I'm probably going the wrong path, but I've always had to back after my second buff. I was using nightblue3's advice on day one and I've been working off of my experience from there. What is this lane champs health drop you're talking about?

 

when you move you mouse cursor to them, you'll see a sudden health drop they took damage from their lane opponents. Its like in not "Live" anymore and happens with turrets too. When you go back to your camera (your champion) it'll happen to your champion too for taking damage from jungle monsters I don't like that either :/

 

I don't think that's what he meant, as it's not an actual problem. I think he might have been referring to how low laners get when they try to come up and get jungle camps, because they're all too strong.

 

dk if its the smartest but ive been running smite on morgana supp and doing well.

 

I used to main jungle and I still haven't even read up on the changes just based on how stupid they look and what people have told me.

I second this. I just tried him and he's insanely strong.

 

????? tank build? I mained Shaco for awhile in s4, like only shaco for months. That was split push shaco, but nightblue3 and other chal junglers are saying tank shaco is where it's at.

 

Haven't played shaco with a tank build, but I've been playing him a lot now. Crit damage is still op on him and his boxes are op clearing camps.

 

Yeah, I think it really depends on how you like to build him. Although a bit of tanky-ness helps, I've seen Yung Mini do it (challenger shaco main) and it's pretty good. It allows him to outplay more because he won't die as fast in a team fight.

 

Pretty much no build in sustain, no jungle. Lol the new jungle reeally hurts, specially with only 2 pots now.

 

i quit jungle, just play adc now.
