Can anyone become a programmer?

Yesterday in school we had a topic if anyone can become a programmer?

Personally i think no, without determination and lack of open mind you cannot become one...

Want to hear some answers as i need to write a report about it...

So whats your thoughts about it?

 

Yes, but you need to like it to make a career out of it. If you hate it you should not do it.

 

I believe anyone could become a programmer, given the time and effort.

 

Your reason is why someone would fail at learning to become a programmer. However, anyone CAN become a programmer they would just require the correct learning experience and determination to get there.

 

Of course if you don't have determination you won't get far. That applies to pretty much everything in real life. In my opinion programming is easy compared to other things because there are so many resources online to learn from.

 

People can be anything they want, with determination and power of will.

 

If you have no determination or passion you most likely won't be a programmer but if you actually set your mind to it I do think anyone can become a programmer.

 

Anyone of average intelligence could learn it with proper teaching and practice. If you're really dumb as a pile of rocks maybe not, so saying "anyone" is a slight exaggeration.

 

Learn it, like any other subject matter and it's more than possible to become a decent programmer.

 

you cant 'learn' programming.
a teacher or tutorials can only show you the basics, syntax, etc.
you need to develop programming logic, that's something that cannot be taught; if you don't have an interest in it, you wont be able to go too far with it.

Yes, it's not the hardest thing ever if you're committed.

 

Yes, if you're willing to learn and willing to fail. Failure is about the only way to learn programming (because if you don't try, you don't know).
