    Punkerpunk13 Onto A New Journey..

    PayPal Services Safe?

Well, I've just recently got my PayPal account back. I used to be an avid PayPal trader, and I always took services as my payment. About 20 minutes ago PayPal called me. I sent a payment as services. They were kind of interrogating me about it, but it all ended up being okay.

Are PayPal services okay to use when trading gold? I know there's no link to anything proving it wasn't a service, and idk if PayPal was just being cautious or not, but I'm genuinely concerned..

Has anybody else had any instances where PayPal's called them to ask about a certain payment that was sent as services? I assume they just called me to verify that it was me the one sending, but I'm just not 100% sure.

For anybody out there that uses Services for PayPal, and they have interrogated you like they did me, what do you say? She was asking me things like what kind of service and what not. I just had to make something up on the spot..

Edit: I'd just like to point out that I'm not asking if their dangerous to take payments/send payments, because of disputes.. I just mean are they dangerous to your PayPal account. Are they breaking any kind of agreement?

Virtual goods sale is allowed on paypal, you can call them to verify. I only had once that they called me to ask whether i have sent that payment. The goal is to know that your are the original paypal holder, nothing else i think.

As for what method should the money be sent. i'd suggest using service or goods. service preferably cuz they dont' need tracking number. they dont voilate the rule of paypal terms and conditions. In contrary, gift is only allowed to send to frineds or family members. What we do is virtual item sale .so service is the right way.

They've called me a couple times, asking me if the increased activity was authorized, and asked me for a website where I do my trading. I was completely honest and they didn't say anything against it. I send all payments as gifts recently anyways (they only care if you receive gifts, supposedly), and I haven't had a problem yet.

If you make too many payments for services when it's for goods they will warn you.

I've seen people who've had their account locked for this reason.

It's also because if you use the service (old gift option) they receive alot less fee's.

Pretty sure services are fine, though I personally use goods.

I too received a call from Paypal less than a week ago, however it was a warning call telling me to stop sending/accepting Gift payments or face limitations & a possible closure on my account.

@just un dude, the fee's for services or goods is the same (2.9% + $0.30)

They aren't if you use balance / bank transfer instead of a cc.

I pay 1$ fee to send 100$ as a service, which is a 1% fee.

It doesn't cost ANY money to send as a good or service specifically, the seller has fees taken out of the payment.

If you send money for goods, the fees go off the amount sent.

If you send money for friends / family (old gift option) the fees are additional and the seller will be charged with the fees. Unless they manually uncheck the box on the second page.

i think "service" would be ok if paypal didn't warn u to stop sending payment as "service".

I always thought it was against the rules of paypal to trade virtual currency.
However, by looking through their ToS, they don't actually prohibit it.
You should always categorize it as a service.
