    Commercial Agriculture

I decided to establish this thread to see everyone's views on Commercial (Industrial) Agriculture. For those of you that don't know what it is, it's basically using modern practices to mass produce food goods from farming. It often has "questionable" methods of being efficient, but that's what we're here to discuss.

I am a staunch believer in the promotion of Commercial Agriculture. I am all for it and all in it. Now, here is where I back up my opinion :)

I think Commercial Agriculture is one of the reasons we have some of the luxuries we do. Think, with mass produced foods, we have much, much cheaper goods. With the economy in sort of a dip, the lower the price, the better.

Commercial Agriculture also promotes many other industries, such as the machinery makers and chemical producers that keep the farms going. That means more jobs and with more jobs comes more money which usually makes for more spending. Thus the cycle continues and the economy is on its way back up.

Now, for the opposing side. Many people believe that the chemicals they use when farming in the manner will cause a decline in the natural flora and fauna populations. (I, on the other hand, believe it's a small price to pay and it's not as dramatic as they make it seem)

Opposition also claims that organic farming is the way to go. They believe that organic farming is completely pure and untainted. That is where they are wrong. It would be naive to believe that you could farm without any type of pesticide or fertilizer. If they practiced that, then there would be no crop left. Organic farming may be a little better with the chemicals, but that's a situation that calls for the lesser of two evils.

Opposition claims that CO2 is causing global warming take effect. It's been proven that humans have barely made a scratch on the whole ozone decay.

I wont state anything else right now because I want to hear what everyone has to say about this. So, are you for or against Commercial Agriculture?

I have trouble seeing how anybody could oppose something that has made food cheaper for millions of people. Only thing I don't like is all the subsidies given out by the government.

I agree, but the "save the environment" hippies disregard human life for the ozone.
