Information About Security of Buying/Selling Gold

Hello all, I have been browsing these forums for a few months looking to get back into Runescape - maybe even start dipping into the buying/selling gold market. I have a few questions for those experienced enough to answer:

    1. Do gold sellers often have their mule accounts banned? How does one trade that amount of gold that often without raising any red flags?

    2. What's a safe amount of gold to keep on a mule account and how do sellers not lose a large chunk of their inventory when a mule account is banned?

    3. Last one for my own personal curiosity - how much would you say the medium - big time players in the Runescape Selling industry make from constantly buying/selling gold?

    I appreciate the help! Thanks

Yes we do. Trading junk or staking is best.

    2. What's a safe amount of gold to keep on a mule account and how do sellers not lose a large chunk of their inventory when a mule account is banned?

Under 50m per account now, bans are VERY high currently. Most sellers employ IP masking products which typically run $5-$40 a piece, this is typically a fairly large expense as the site grows, a medium sized site probably outputs $150-$300 a month just in ip masking products.

    3. Last one for my own personal curiosity - how much would you say the medium - big time players in the Runescape Selling industry make from constantly buying/selling gold?

Most medium sites/small sites don't make money, after bans and expenses anything smaller than 150-200 chats a day is most likely losing money in the long game.

They may make money for 5 months straight and then lose 500m in a day and then only have 4 months profit then another 3 months passes and they lose a bill, etc.

It mostly balances long-term if ur planning to trade, most small/medium sites cannot survive on runescape gold. The bans are to often, and the bans tend to be a minimum of $50 a piece upwards of $1000+ if u get caught at the wrong time.

So how does someone like you survive in this industry? Have you had many mules banned with a bunch of gold on it?

Yes I've lost in the 5 figures now due to bans.

My sites are larger than people tend to think, I've been around with sites for 4 years now and I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't make money, certainly not for the 4 years I have been now.

I survive because my brand is nearly unbreakable, I spent some 6 months outputting over $7500 a month into SEO and banners, I've owned a major forum banner every single month we've operated since start of 2017.

I play the long-ball always, I don't look at schedules by days or weeks I look at my business and invest based on months and years.

It would take a ridiculous sum of bans or other factors to ever justify fully destroying my own sites brand at this stage, If I was able to sustain over $50,000 being put into a brand these past 6-8 months I can sustain a few thousand being lost to bans or other damages. Only a fool would throw away such a immense sum due to bans and I'm very careful when it comes to bans.

That's sort of like bogla getting banned with 2b but then shutting down his site over it, its like a ember vs a fire.

It's also why sites like divica, pie, arcus, my own, etc manage to hold on, we are all so heavily invested into our sites that it would be stupid for anyone(middle tier & big tier sites) to leave the industry due to losses unless they were beyond unrecoverable within a long time frame.

It is also why no matter how long my ban length is I return, Even after a week, a month, 6 months, its irrelevant compared to the brand value. At this stage I have enough trickle traffic to rival a small gold site even if we stayed down for months on end, I'm in the industry until its gone and I'm expanding into new games with new sites, Any gold site mine(middle sized) or larger is probably similarly committed.

When you see a site buying advertisements month after month over the forums you know their committed long-term and will probably be around a long long time because with RS gold margins so low, their probably playing a very long-ball sort of branding game.

Great info. So would you recommend someone thinking about getting into buying/selling gold to run for the hills? I feel like it's a tough industry to break into...
