How I got some guy fired.

Background info:

I work as an advertising liaison ; in other words, I hold up a sign for some self-operated business. I'd like to think that this is a side job, but from the way things are going, it looks permanent. I take much more bullshit than you think I would. I've (now) had drinks thrown at me, people cursing at me, and endless honking and pointing.

* "LSS": "Long story short". Some parts of this story are long, and since it is 2:30 AM I want to go to bed, even though I decided that I want to share this with you at this time.

So, this just happened last Wednesday. I'm holding up the advertisement sign and walking up and down the street, when I see some obnoxiously loud truck stop at the intersection, with his left turn signal on. There's two people in it, one in the driver's side and one in the passenger's side. I don't really think much of it until I hear this guy pre-yelling (before he gets to where I am) the words *excuse my language "Fuck you biiiiiiiiitch!". At this point I don't know what to do- really, did some guy just yell that?. The worst part is? He is holding an un-lidded Tim Horton's coffee cup in his hand, outside of the window. I am just standing there in a frozen stance, but I know what he was about to do. He threw the coffee at me. Please note that this isn't that busy of an intersection, but I am pretty sure several people saw this unfold. So, I didn't bother stopping the cup with my sign because I was pretty much frozen and this happened really fast. So he gets me soaked with lukewarm coffee (maybe that's why he didn't want it anymore, because it wasn't hot?) and I realized that he pretty much got my whole head, plus my shirt down to the waist, all wet. One thing I managed to do was see some paintbrush logo on the side of the truck. Then it clicked- to the internet I go! But before that happened, a lady of maybe 30 years old stopped next to me, and LSS, she told me she had seen what happened, and she ended up giving me her phone number, name, time this happened, and the first 3 digits of the license plate of the guy's truck, all on a piece of paper. She told me to call her if I had contacted the manager of the business to confirm my story as an eye-witness, although she never knew what the business' name was. Apparently she didn't notice the company decal on the truck. Anyways, I went back to my work and put my sweater on over top of my shirt, and just went back out and finished the rest of the 30 minutes of my shift.

I got home, and then quickly went to my computer and started searching up painting businesses within my area, since I assumed they were painters. No luck. I searched for the name in another town close to mine, and still no luck LSS, I ended up finding them. They were interior painters or something along those lines, they had the same logo that I saw on the truck, and their office building was about 50 minutes away. I found their head manager's (of all 4 locations in my province, I forgot what the term is actually called) phone number, which was actually the call center's number, to which they directed me to the specific location number, where I was directed to customer service rep, then finally to the head manager (why the original number couldn't just direct me to the head manager, I am unsure of), and explained the whole situation to him. After throwing in a few Yeah's and Mm-hm's, he told me that he would call the eye-witnesses number and confirm the story. I never got a call back so I phoned the eye-witness and talked to her, to which she told me she talked to the manager and he told her he'd get back to me about the situation. But I didn't get a call...

Until earlier this morning. The head manager called me and explained that he did a quick and thorough investigation and can confirm that the man did throw the coffee (I am assuming the driver told the manager). The manager told me that although the man was a good worker and had worked there for 2 years, he was fired. He told me he took this extremely serious because it not only affects him but it looks bad on the company. I then thanked the manager for the trouble he went through to end up firing the man, and he said he was sorry that the worker did those actions to me. In order to compensate me, he said that whenever I needed any rooms painted, to call his private number (which he supplied me with) and they'd be "more than willing to paint it for free".

Now you find someone who wants painting done, charge them insanely low price that makes it worth your time, and profit from their free labor due to the asshole that decided to throw coffee on you while workin for them. Someone gets their house painted, you get paid, and the workers that paint most likely get paid for working. Everyone wins!

 

I hate people that think they are the shit and do things like that. What a idiot for doing it in his work vehicle. Good job on getting him fired .

To be honest, he knew the rules, and so do I. But really, all jokes aside, he should've thought of the consequences before he threw the coffee. Did he expect that he'd get off scot-free? I guess it was lucky that he drove in his work truck. For the other question, refer to the 4th quote down. (I'm also Canadian)

I'm actually Canadian, not American, and seeing as how we don't have access to guns... well.. his life might've been saved by the law! haha just kidding.

Well my boss wasn't in that day (he comes in like every two days). I avoided everyone by going in through the back door, grabbed a cloth and dried my face and hair, grabbed my sweater, and went back out there lol

What I don't get is why everyone hates you so much? What exactly is it you do (I'm not really sure from the content of the OP).
