Why is sythe dying?

Sythe is slowly dying in my opinion, howcome?

 

and what makes you say that?

 

Because runescape is dying. Pretty obvious wouldn't you say.

 

Sythe really isn't "dying", it just seems like more people leave then join, but it will stay strong for quite a few years, even longer if they increase market activity in other games, like LoL.

 

Well, the fact that If you make a post somewhere it takes ages for someone else to reply!

 

cos runescape is le dying. that's why sythe needs to add something so it's not just based around RS to attract more le members

To be honest, there has been no change what so ever in the past 2 months you've been on here. So what make you say it?

Also, I agree with Amethyst.

 

Sythe has its peak times, people are generally busy with exams at this time of year considering most users are teens/early 20's. Summer sees a big increase in activity.

anyway probably because the internet is moving away from forums. look around, forums everywhere are becoming less and less populated, i swear.

Since I started coming on here in late 2005, I have noticed some decline but I wouldn't say the forum is dying. Runescape becoming less popular is a big reason why there is less activity.

 

There are many reasons. Our staff team is not what it once was (not that we are bad, we just have been better). Runescape is losing members and so are we. The community feel is slowly going away. The IRC is not nearly as full as it once was and no one talks in it anymore (Staff need to get in there and be active so people come). The UE is gone which was a great activity booster during its time and it gave people something to strive for. The quality of posts is declining as we lose older members that are replaced by younger, more annoying, stupid ones. This has a feedback effect and as the post quality decreases, the members that we want posting stop posting and the quality goes down the drain again. Over the last three or four years the market has been the major driving force behind Sythe while the rest of Sythe has suffered. With the decline in the market recently and the slow decline of the rest of the forums there is less incentive to stay once someone gives up on the market and with less people coming into the market, even less people even consider staying for the community.

To get Sythe going again we not only have to branch out in terms of markets but we need to improve the community. The IRC needs to be packed with people and active. We need to have intelligent threads that people will want to post on. We need to give people something to do with other Sythians. Richard should invest further in a Minecraft server that everyone could be apart of. It was working really well until the server started sucking. I could go on and on but I'm too lazy.

 

you have to get sythe the main place to trade for any online game, Puzzlepirates, xbox/ps3 Endless online, just have to get more games like that,

 

Social environments always go up and down in popularity (kinda in that category) although I don't know what sythe used to be like in comparison, there's still loads of great members here! I don't think it'll ever actually die as a community, even as people move away from runescape a lot will still stay here! Plus it's still possible that jagex will pull it out of the bag with RS3 in my opinion

 

That's easier said than done.

 

Anyone who's stayed has stopped playing Runescape or has moved on.

 

Probably one of the main factors veterans and older members (age wise) leave.

 

And they aren't being replaced because people don't stick around for any length of time after they stop using the market.
