Never knew they did bomb it

 

The satellites that they did use were literally falling apart, they did this so that they could get better samples of the moon's ice, as a very large percentage of the moon is ice, and crashing these satellites would throw pieces of the moon out into space, as the moon has very little gravity.

Using this, scientists can get a very definite clue to what is in the moon's ice/water. Most likely to look for signs of life.

Nah, NASA studies the dust cloud that formed shortly after impact (the surface is to hard for astronauts to successfully reach the point in where they suppose, ice was being held), to reproduce, if the cloud had contained any signs of shattered ice (i think that the dust and ice have variation in light reflection). They do not plan on retrieving any of the pieces/Or someone from the space station will.

You probably heard it wrong, if debris fell to earth, the atmosphere would normally burn it all up.

It was to analyze the dust for water/ice.

 

They wanted to know if there was ice there so they could use it for water and fuel for their rockets so a longer term moon landing could take place with much more ease....

I think on the News they mentioned like 60 Metres deep, and 20 wide, But still people was awake in midnight. Awaiting BIG fireworks.
